New free XBL Gold game drops tomorrow, called "Defense Grid:The Awakening"
July 1st, for XBL Gold members you can download 2010's XBL arcade game "Defense Grid:The Awakening" as part of the free games thing. I thought MS announced at E3 we were supposed to get AC:2 and Halo 3 this month, but I guess there's still time depending on how the bi-weekly lands on the calander, I haven't looked. Either way a free game is a free game!

Has anyone played this game at all? Is it worth a DL?
If you like Tower Defense games, this one is really great. If you have never played a TD game before, this one is a nice way to ease you into the mechanics.
If you do not like TD games, do not download this title.

Also, MS never said AC2 and Halo3 were July's games, just that those games would be part of the free games.

I have had this game for quite a while and I think it is by far the best tower defense game that I have played.
Try Gemcraft on the PC. It plays in your browser.
I played for an hour or two last night. It's competent but nothing special. Great for free.

The leaderboards have potential. I see my score is better than yours on the maps I played cpro, cough, cough.

It's a very good tower defense game. But damn, Microsoft's really pulling out the Mouldy Oldies for their 'free' games huh? Shiiit.
remember kids, ACII is free today until the end of the month. I already 1000GS it but I added it to my account anyway, because why not.

you should play II for sure. I started with it, never played #1.
If you like it, get Brotherhood. Then stop.

Just tried AC of any kind for the first time. In this AC II, I was at the Animus 2.0 room and decided to walk around the building exploring, after talking to 3 people. I woke up 3 times with my chin on my chest and my guy walking in a slow circle. I hope the rest of the game is better. LOL, at me actually.
Just spent an hour on it and I'm liking it. I enjoy the free running stuff. Also got 60 GS pretty easy.

Anyway, the second free game this month (starting August 16th) is Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero
