No text color/background choices?

Since the text editor changed to get fancier, it seems that there are way more problems.  One of them is I can find no way to change the text color or text background at all.

For instance, when copying and pasting from a website, it keeps the formatting but gives you no way to change it.  Example pic:

Work around: paste into notepad first, then copy/paste into this site. Notepad will remove all the formatting.

Another work around: after pasting, hit the "Source" button to see the all the hidden code that you pasted with your message, attempt to interpret it and remove/change the colours.

Colour still works here, just no buttons for it. Use [color=red]test[/color] to get it done.

More formatting code can be found by following the More information about formatting options link at the bottom of the page.

Note: here is what the above text looks like when I hit "Source" (more or less):
<p>Work around: paste into notepad first, then copy/paste into this site. Notepad will remove all the formatting.</p><p>Another work around: after pasting, hit the &quot;Source&quot; button to see the all the hidden code that you pasted with your message, attempt to interpret it and remove/change the colours.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Colour still works here, just no buttons for it. Use [color=red]test[/color] to get it done.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>More formatting code can be found by following the&nbsp;<a href="http://www.2old2play.com/filter/tips" muse_scanned="true" style="line-height: 15px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); ">More information about formatting options</a>&nbsp;link at the bottom of the page.</p>
You can see "
background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255)
" in there, which was "255,255,255" (white), which I changed manually to "255,0,255" (pink?).

Or even easier, you can use words instead of the rgb(#,#,#), so changing "
background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255)
" to "
background-color: pink
" also would work.

thanks Jedi.  But I know all that smiley

I'm just trying to point out an issue w/the board as is, without needing the workarounds - and Doodi has made it clear he likes the rich text and won't be changing smilies - :) - to graphics, so I figured everything should work in the Rich Text with dropdowns.

The editor will open up more over time.  In fact it does way more then it really needs to so I started with a very stripped down version at launch just to get the basics going.  I'll be adding more smilies, sizes, backgrounds, etc over time.  I just don't want our forum to look like a clown party.

Looks at example of clown party, looks at 2old2play forum dwellers.

Seems like a good fit to me. laughwink

I hear you.  It was more to change what was pasted than to make things rainbow colors wink

I like that the "Style" dropdown has been replaced with text color and size dropdowns recently. Thanx!

I'd like to request that [s]strikethru[/s]/strikethrough icon be included next to the underline icon please!

I also like the strikethrough option.  That way it allows the reader to see what I was originally typing before deciding to change it, but still conveying the intent of the original message.  For example:

Wam is [s]a slut[/s] awesome!

I've never understood strikethrough.  Why not just delete...

I use strikethrough a lot on lists. That way, people can still see what was on the list, and what still needs to be done.
