Site Chat

The client in V3 sucks major donkey balls.  You can't see who is online.  It is cool that you can see what channels are up.

I actually found a really good webclient you might want to look into.

The old Site Chat is still up but you need a client to get to it.  I'm not sure if it's staying or going.  I hope it stays as I like that better.

The new site chat isn't staying.  We prefer IRC as well.  It is only there as a stop gap.  Like lala said, if you have the IRC info you can still get into any chat.

For those interested, you need to download an IRC Client.  Something like Trillian, Pidginhttp://www.pidgin.im/ or P-Chat.

Server info:

Server: 2old2play.com

Port: 31313

Starter room is #generalsitechat.  There are also a few clans that host rooms on the server.

Mibbit is a web based IRC client.  A fairly well featured one as well.

We can't use that because we programatically pass usernames, etc to the chat client. Also, the reason why we use the one we do is because it runs locally and uses a clever flash trick to circumvent firewalling. There are lots of java IRC clients out there we could use, but where people work in offices with firewalls, this is the most reliable way to get around that.

I was just suggesting you embed mibbit instead of that crappy java one.  Better features.

There are still some site chat issues.  I can't chat in generalsitechat from the web client.
