Todays WTF story, Facebook buys Oculus
wut ?!
"Facebook has announced plans to purchase Oculus VR, the company behind the Rift headset, for around $2B in cash and stock. This includes $400M, and 23.1 million Facebook shares. An additional $300M earnout will be paid in cash and stock if Oculus hits certain unspecified milestones."

WTF does a Social Network know about real videogaming??? I think they should stick to the silly little games by Zynga and others: I see the developer for the VR version of Minecraft has dropped the project altogether because of this aquisition.
Have to wait and see how Sony's Project Morpheus pans out instead !!!!
Virtual porn.
Isn't porn, by definitiion virtual? I mean if it isn't, that's prostitution, no? Or minimally, a Saturday night on the town?
Porn is where a chunk of money always has been.. The VR potential for virtual sex has an ickyness attached to it, from my perspective.
VR certainly can be good for people with social problems or disabilities. I'm not totally dissing it but the FB connection bugs me and I'm not sure why.
Live sex shows, forgot that option...I've been married a loooong time...
Well, take Facebook and Instant Messaging and toss out Skype, insert VR, and there's the ickyness...now if the headset came with your choice of wigs...sigh...
+1 what Garfy said... Notch claims that Facebook creeps him out.
Smart man that one...
but, this from a man that created animated snowmen with jack o'lantern heads that hurl snowballs...
It is an impressive technology but I doubt it will be lucrative.
Cyber space anyone? What's more Facebook than just walking around chatting with people?
First person avatars? Only if I can be Batman...
Ready Player One ;)
