The video's look good Lb but I noticed that its cut-off on both left and right sides. You can barely see your scorestreaks on the right (BO2 vids of course).
Im really wanting to record not only Party/Game chat but also my own chat. I've watched a couple video's on the tube but I can't figure it out. Let me know if/when you're able to cap the chats.
Also when you are uploading the videos to you tube you might have a pop up window say something like, "your video appears to be shaky, would you like us to fix it"....
SELECT NO OR CLOSE THE WINDOW, IT MAKES THE VIDS LOOK FUNKY
I recently built a new PC and at the same time bought the El Gato & a SnowBall Mic.
Hope to be doing more streaming at http://www.twitch.tv/capnmikem. So far I have just been streaming some Black Ops 2 with my One of Swords clan members.
I watched the last Thick & Thin episode and noticed you were looking for Twitch content. I am definitely into that idea. I'll send a PM to Doodi.
I found a free alternative to XSplit that works pretty well. I've had it crash once or twice, but it outputs good video, and it's free and open source....so the developers will take that data and make improvements.

Yeah I had tried that but I do not think they support the Haupp PVR's, yet. I am hoping they add that in a future update. But that software was pretty sweet.
after the Xbox One and PS4 come out, will this thread be moot? They both have recording and editing functionality.
depends, we have heard nothing of the quality/capability/limitations they will be offering/not offering. Also this can still be a learning tool for the tips and perils of rendering/uploading and stuff.
True, but it's going to be less. What they showed today was pretty sweet and the vast majority of people will just use that.
agreed, but we still don't have details. For example is it just able to be uploaded to Twitch (I am assuming it is but again no details), or can we also upload it to youtube? I mean technically you can pull the video from twitch to Youtube currently, so that part of my questioning is probably moot.
Trust me if they come out and say, at launch you will be able to stream and upload in 720p or higher with no limits on length or amount of gb's, I am totally with you. You are still going to have people that want to use casting software so they can use personal graphic cards and stuff. But they will not be the majority.
I use the original Hauppauge for capture and for streaming and xsplit free version works decent enough. The only thing is it streams with best quality at 480p not 720p for some reason. I think it has to do with default sets before any software for capture is loaded whether xsplit or total media extreme (the software that came with pvr) and in initializes for input from what whichever console your capturing from.
Haven't posted in the thread in a while. Apologies. So far I've got my setup pretty close to complete & working (for now). I've got the Elgato cap box for console stuff. I have a behringer C-1 microphone & usb audio mixer to capture my voice and using Open Broadcaster to capture all the footage with Sony Vegas to edit stuff together. So far it's been working out. Had ALOT of hiccups when I first got everything hooked up. My webcam had a built in microphone that needed to be shut off, open broadcaster wasn't liking any of my pc game windows....but eventually I got it all figured out. And I still need to buy a phantom power source for the microphone...because I have to be almost on it in order for it to pick up well. And that's after spending almost an hour tweaking the mixer to make sure it wasn't that. The mixer does have phantom power, but not quite enough for this microphone to work at optimal levels...so....anyways.
The Elgato is working great for capping console footage. I've decided to pretty much drop the idea of streaming stuff on Twitch through PC software until I can afford to buy into the more pro-streaming software like Xsplit and I know I will use it to make the money worth while.
For now I'm just using Open Broadcaster to capture console & pc game footage and then I edit it in Sony Vegas and put it up on Youtube. My biggest issue with Twitch was, it didn't give me any quality control options when a stream was completed and uploaded to Youtube....so the videos always ended up looking crappy. So I figure...why not just cap & edit the video, then just put it to youtube directly. And only do streams if there is a request for it....or if there is a special event I'm hosting.
Hitman has helped me a lot through PM's. I've bugged him quite a few times for info and help and he's been stellar with helping me out. Much appreciated.
I hope I can start posting some funny & interesting content here soon.

Awesome Mike! Please let us know what kind of tips and tricks you do/use/help out!

It's called Open Broadcaster. You can get it here: http://obsproject.com/
Pretty easy to setup, here's a youtube video for starting out: http://youtu.be/y-L5zhhVuSc

I'll have to check that out and see if it works with the Roxio I have.

Nah won't be moot. People will still want extreme control over quality and output. Neither console with probably offer that.

just announced on Major Nelson's cast - HDMI game content on the One will not be protected with HDCP. So all Elegato, etc devices will work.
