I don't buy that. It's been a loooooong generation and folks (from what I've noticed) are more than ready to move on. Sales seem to suggest this also.

Rumors have it that MS is having yeild issues with their apu. So much so they are either going to be lowering specs to bring yeilds up or they are going to be stock strapped. They are also rumored to be about 6 months behind Sony in the software pipeline. I assume they didn't have physical hardware on the showfloor because they are waiting for a respin and they just don't have the hardware nailed down.

XB1 was on the show and was being used. Not for everything and it's the game developers choice how they want to demo. All the yield stuff is so old rumour news that it is unreliable.

any sources for these rumors?

I've found the exact opposite from people - many/most say "I don't need to buy a new system, my current one is just fine."

You're not going to get people "putting their name on it". I troll Gaf alot and keep seeing this from folks that have a track record of getting things right. Gaf is loaded with full on freaks but it's a pretty good news aggregator.

And yeah, some (maybe all? idk) first party software was shown on xbone kits. As you would expect if hardware was scarce. Take care of your house first.

And the number of preorders from amazon alone tells me people are ready. It's been what ? 7 years? I know I'm ready to move on and I stil have first party games coming out this year for my prefered system.

That's what surprised me about the price of Xbox One.  How can they expect to get sizable sales from non-gamers who want it for the entertainment and other features at a $500 price point?  That price eliminated a large part of such markets.

However, if you think about it another way, that means Xbox One truly is a console for gamers primarily.
