I was going to buy one of these, either the original or the 2012 version for the Xbox, but I was wondering which one to get? I would assume the 2012 edition would be better, but I just want to be sure. Any recommendations? I think the 2013 edition is a Wii U exclusive for some reason.

I found the original one to be annoying to play.  The exercises are locked and you unlock them as you progress through workouts.  Normal enough.  However the tracking for some exercises like lunges or anything fast motion is so poor that I got to a  point where I got stuck not being able to unlock further exercise sets.  You need to score like an 80 or something on an exercise set to unlock the next set and if you get  a three exercise combo that has 2 exercises that it sucks at tracking, you can't progress.  Speaking of lunges, this game seemd like 80% focused on bending type exercises like lunges, squats and the like.  I heard that the 2012 version has the same locked exercise nonsense.  Also the online components of the original one dont' seem to function anymore, so if you got the original one it seems to have a lot of trouble with the social elements working.

If you're interested in exercise games, you should check out UFC Trainer or the Nike Trainer.

I second this on YSFE - my Wife in particular found it very annoying because she's a little on the short side and the game didn't seem to respect that her range of motion was not measured in the same manner as a fully-grown male of 6ft or more.
