Seems Kurupt is no longer in a position to continue, he has mostly returned to the world of console racing as it suits his schedule, he really should have posted that here and I waited for him to do so but as he hasn't... Church hasn't turned up to race in months....That basically leaves you me and Tarten. Now if we returned to our old Saturday slot Neverender could return but GBR have a race now in that slot...But...The first Saturday of every month is free as Chris who runs the GBR event is unavailable that day...Sooo, While I am a little disheartened if we have nothing going on then things will never get better, so I suggest we think about that free Saturday slot and race once a month for the moment. I know Never Tarten and I are avaliable because we were all there today, and maybe the other GBR drivers would turn up in support, I can soon find that out. Anyway that is my thoughts.
I was waiting to hear back from my wife what her work and training sessions were gonna be starting this Monday before ruling out anything. As it stands having 2 young ones to avoid having to pay $2200 a month for a stranger to raise my kids I opted to sacrifice and work around her so ATM we don't even have one day a week to all spend together, one comes home the other leaves. Currently I only have after 1 am and weekend mornings, looking at Gbr sched they have tried filling every single slot, and in all honesty asides from Helios I wouldn't expect any support or turnouts from them. If it's not a v8 super car it won't get much attention even they have had issues with non v8 turnouts.
dont get me wrong I love racing with guys and have had some of the best races here, but I have really not found any PC sim that I love, lack of content I enjoy, constant problem shooting, half ass mods , driving by myself 95% of the time and small fields in every game has just gotten to me. I recently picked up a ps3 and gt6 for $40 and was problem the best $40 I've spent in the past 2 yrs It took less than 5 mins to realize what I had been missing and loved the most in racing games ....building/tuning cars and taking them into lobbies to show off and see where I can put them on the lb something you can't do in any PC sim.
imo asides that my wheel doesn't rattle like a can of rocks imitating every bump in the road like rf2 and iracing the tire/suspension model are pretty much the same in gt6 and feels a lot like rre I look forward to what ps4 will be capable of with gt7 and Pcars. I love racing and it's truly a waste to put my time and effort into planning/testing/promoting/hosting etc to only run with 3 others in a sim I only use on race day once a week when I have something else I enjoy and can jump on at any time and run multiple races with 15 plus on track.
Ill still be on from time to time testing my 2 games so if you see me and wanna run some laps shoot me an invite!
I think the best thing ATM is talk to the leaders of Gbr and see if they will open a slot and host?

Yeah man no worries home stuff comes first, Still wonder why the hell you have so much problem with rF2 ffb, the forces are related directly to what the steering links suspension and tires are feeding back, nothing added nothing taken away. Still if you don't like it I guess nothing I say will alter that :) Dan has already said he is interested and they are not all V8 focused, I have raced in several different series and not one in V8, 70's touring car, Porche, Prototypes, F1 to name a few. The main problem is times, to run a race at times that suit euro types mean they either race in the morning or mid afternoon.
Anyhoo as Mango seems to have this hosting thing sorted so it's up to him, 8pm gmt, Saturday evening is the time slot like I said first Saturday of the month..
So Kurupt's withdrawn, which only leaves Knight, Tartan and myself.
I'd like to switch back to BTCC, as I'm not really inspired by running someone else's personal car from another league. The idea of the BTCC 2014 mod would of been nice, except another league is already leaps and bounds ahead. Because 2old2race is aimed at the over 25's, I think we're fairly safe to tryout a BTCC season from the 90's when it was at it's peak in popularity. The BTCC cars in the 90's had low grip level's, as they had no aerodynamic divices to create downforce and stabilise the car, and no racing inspired double wishbone suspension.
My proposal is for a test race
1993 BTCC Season in the rFactor Super Touring Car's mod v1.61 Download Link
18 lap race around Donington GP Circuit (the same track from our BTCC Season 2 Mod if you still have it installed. Different track/layout for each round in the championship, they only use tripple headers in the real world because of Logistic cost cutting for the teams. Lap race distance to be determined by real BTCC season race distance).
Full 28 car grid.
The AI will be eligible to score Championship Points.
Human racers will be starting from the back of the grid.
Rear and Four Wheel drive cars are for AI Only, all Human drivers will use front wheel drive.
Human drivers can only use 1 car all season ( no team/car swapping mid season).
Fuel and Tyre useage is on Normal.
AI Strength and Aggression is on 100%
Damage on 50%
No personal liveries (Youtube video's, easier to attract new drivers when they easily recognise the cars. Looks more authentic as a BTCC league).
No change to driver assist rules expected at this time.
AI are a pain in the butt, we did a race with 20 of them yesterday and well...I hate being punted off by a computer controlled car. We have always used one car per season so that's fine, not at all sure about restricting humans to FWD, fine for me, but not for the RWD fans. No liveries is also a bit of a spoiler, I like a personal livery, especially if there are AI on track, makes the humans easier to spot. Driver assists I will live with because you are using a joypad.
So, AI meh, but willing to see how it pans out, FWD RWD should still be a choice because that will be a deal breaker for some folk. Liveries once again I guess I can live with it but it is a shame.
As for the format of the race, whatever, as long as I'm racing.

Only a test race to see what happens, nothing set in stone. The rear wheel drive cars have a large tyre wear advantage, but see what happens in the test race. The thing with the liveries is that if a driver doesn't show, the AI will be driving that car and would be eligible to score points. So idea is that your fighting the AI on track and in the championship points.
The server is up using the BTCC Server details from season 2.
So shall we race on Saturday 1st of February at 8pm GMT?
Grand so Mango, 1st of feb suits fine enough, not downloaded the mod yet as I am a bit short on data, it rolls round in four days so will get it then :)
That is a valid point I guess about the skins, tyre wear could be a thing but different tracks suit different cars and that should balance it out.
So what mod is gonna be used for the series vtcc or an updated old btcc ?
whats been updated in the btcc? Any physics or sounds or just cars?

Is that the super touring mod that you can get at rfactor central ? Or the updated version by andreasFSC? I tried his version on r07 and it was pretty good it's available on both, rough around the edges graphically but good non the less. I recall rwd cars being a handful and very unpredictable fwd were a joy, anyways if it is his version 3.63 will be released in the next few days as the previews were released over at race department recently with all new physics and graphics with upto the 98 season available

Also a Thursday spot opened up at Gbr as they cancelled a series, should see if they will run the mod for the guys across the pond and it also falls on a time I can partake in.
It is the Super Touring Mod from rFactor Central, with the 1.61 patch. No modifications from me at all.
My impression from what I've read on this forum, if the touring car mod isn't Rear Wheel Drive and doesn't have a V8, GBR are not very interested. Changing to race on a Thursday night, it's ok with me but I want to complete the test race first to see how the mod and rules will work.
Personally I feel that's true but is just my opinion and was nothing more than the notification about the opening. It's too bad when they were asking for input on new series to be run that they bypassed the 3 or 4 guys that wanted a touring car series and choose something else......guess that kinda says it all ? But I completely understand if it's not there style, again it not or league and if there was a series down the road it would be awesome :) There was one guy there that mentioned this mod that you might wanna send an invite too he seemed quit fond of it.....I think it was mcusa, will neverender be joining your sat races?
I'm not in GBR, so dont know anyone there or about their championship. I only know what you guys have posted here.
Saturday 1st Feb is only a test race to see how it goes first.
Well I have been racing there over a year and not raced a V8 yet, in fairness they set up their stall as a V8 series club, that is their premier series, so no suprise that atract a lot of V8 fans. But there is a fair sprinkling of other series, and they did run a vintage BTCC mod when I first joined that was quite well supported. The F1 series running Sundays once a month is getting quite popular and the only one I seem to be in with a chance of getting in the top three, odd seeing as I have a well known dislike for these cars...or more I am usually terrible at racing them, but it seems I must have improved :)
Never races in that time slot in Chris's Enduracers so though he is not 100% sure he can make all races he should be good for this one. Chris will pop in when he can, the whole reason that slot is open in because he could not commit on that one day a month.
That reminds me I had better post the Mod.
The test race took place last night with Knight, Jimmy Regan and myself taking part.
Didn't go smoothly as my internet connection dropped before the race, and it stopped announcing on the rFactor matchmaker. took me a while before I could rejoin.
Knight was experiencing lag issues, but in the replay Jimmy was not. I suspect that running a full grid is to demanding for the server, as it wasn't recording steering wheel movements. The AI also pitted during the race, which was strange as they should of had plenty of fuel for the complete race distance. What was clear though, some of the AI seem to have a vendetta against Knight. The AI basically left me alone in the race and gave me space, but with Knight, they were trying to push him into a spin, cut him up, brake test him.
I think everyone was reasonably happy with the cars physics, just the AI idea needs a re-think, concider changing race day and time to avoid busy weekend internet traffic/lag.
I race regularly at that time, and on far more distant servers, I think the problem was my end, so I will run another online test to be sure. I was a little concerned that such a large grid might causes issues. AI hate me, LOL Don't know why but every time I race them online that list of misdemeanors you set our there seems to happen, so many on what will be mostly short track racing is unnecessary anyway, half the amount I think would give the required interest.
I only had a few minor incidents with the AI but for the most part I really enjoyed this mod. When the AI all decided to pit I thought that was a little strange. Good news it put me in second place :) but there was no way I was catching Mango who had a solid 18+second lead on me.
I hope the time stays the same, would love to get back to racing with you lot even if it is only once a month.
No reason for the time to change mate, so I think if we halve the AI numbers to ease the strain on the server, we are good to go. Might be an idea just to test once more, with reduced AI and to settle on car choices, I think I have settled on mine, cant remember what it was, vauxhall I think.
I reduced the AI down to 14 from 28 on monday, but I'm a bit stumped why the AI are pitting.
On the 10lap race, they pitted on lap 8, but I also did a 18lap race, and they pitted on lap 14. I made an AI.svm/setup file which had 25laps of fuel, and they still pitted.
I will try turning the fuel useage off tonight, and see what the AI will do.
Push comes to shove mate we could allways do a compulsery pit stop, can add a bit of interest and stratagy?

Sorry, I havent answered. I didn't test during the week because I was to tired, but tested an 18 lap race online this morning, and the AI didn't pit with the fuel useage turned off.
No problem Sherb, you can have the Mondeo if you want it. I was only driving it during the testing phase. I can switch to a different car
I can take another Mondeo. No biggie to me. I'll have to get the mod downloaded and installed to see what the actual options are.
I was in the rouse mondeo, but I'll switch cars so my car is a different colour. It's no problem.
Are we trying Donington again with reduced AI and fuel useage turned off?
