Warning from the IT guy

Hey all,

Dealt with a rather large infection today with a few of my clients. Trojan called W32.Sillfdc  looks like an old recycled bug from way back in 2010. Just thought I would warn you all. Replaces folders with .exe files its pretty nasty.

Malwarebytes gets rid of it and this site has good directionss to clean up the mess.

So heads up!

Wow that is an old one. Somebody brought in an infected flash drive I'm guessing? Never experienced it myself. The only problem I've dealt with lately is ransomware, trying to convince people that the FBI isn't monitoring their computer, and telling them not to pay the "fine". Oh and telling folks to disable Java and Adobe Reader plugins in the browser unless they need it to access a site they trust.

Enough of my rambling, thanks for the info.

Cheers, thanks! I loves me some Malwarebytes. I've had a couple of bad ones so I'm pretty careful these days. On the upside, having removed a couple of bad ones from my own machine forced me to get good at using tools like HijackThis and Malwarebytes to remove them :)
