We need a WvWvW night!

It's seems like there is very little GUILD is GW2.  I get that most people are just leveling at their own pace, I've noticed a lot of others have just stopped playing all together because of the lack of team play that should be inheret in an MMO.  It seems to me that at ever turn this game actually discourages team play within your own guild.  Sure you're fighting with 40+ strangers at any given quest hub, but what about actually getting on mumble and doing something together as a team?

That is why im proposing a guild WvWvW night.  A night where we can all get together, build some catapults, and launch ourselves into Server PvP.  I know it's going to be hard with the current que system (thanks again Anet) but hopefully we can all que up and just wait to form a group when we're inside.  So what's a good day for you guys? Do you even care to do it?  What do you guys do for team play in GW2?

I'm up for some WvWvW.  I really hope they do address the queue system.  Wednesdays are my only bad day.

That's what I'm most worried about.  I'm sure getting everyone into WvWvW will be near impossible.  I really hope we see some quality of life changes soon.

mondays and  thursdays are bad.

other days are ok'ish.

And if my l337 lvl 11 does not matter or will bring the other people down, I am up for it. BTW I still only have one weapon, if that matters. I guess I can run around and buff people and do some heals.

Love the idea, I'm down, as long as the wife doesn't want to do something crazy that night like talk! But at that point I can always queue up then come back later when she's passed out. I'm sure there will still be a wait

I'm in....but I haven't even been able to get into WvW once because of the long ass queue waits.  I think I'm good most nights though to try.

We could try Eternal. It's the largest and usually pops pretty quick. I'm good for any day that isn't Tuesday.

It took about 3 hours for the eternal battleground queue to pop last night, and when it did I was in the middle of something else and didn't want to join.  I really hope Arenanet figures out how to reduce these queue times.

I did some WvWvW this morning just trying to figure shit out.  Anyone have any good noob guides to WvWvW.  I need someone to explain it to me like I'm a 5 year old.  I get most of it, just not all.

I just approach it likes big ass game of 'King of the Hill' or 'Territories'.

Im in for some guild WvWvW. I admit to being one of those leveling at my own pace. I am buried in class work lately so 'shit's real' in my RL, so some guild PvP would be fun as fuck IMO. I like Fridsys and Saturdays, but could join up most any night if it's late enough western time zone style. I wouldn't mind some PvP on the regular either if people are interested in that. Level wouldn't matter since it just bumps everyone up anyway.

I was shocked there was no Guild vs Guild in GUILD WARS 2. I guess they really want the focus on World vs World... which is fine, except the queues are a huge problem. I think the only solution to the queues is playing on a less populated server, or at an odd time of day. Also, the borderlands are frequently easier to get into than the Eternal Battlegrounds (because everyone wants to storm that castle) but even then there's no guarantee the entire guild will be able to get inside (and quickly).

There is an alternative to WvW: sPvP (Structured PVP).

Hot Join
Hot Join games is the casual side of Structured PvP, this allows casual players to enter an unorganized battle containing anything from 1v1 to 10v10. You are able to enter these by speaking to the NPC acting as a PvP Browser.

Tournaments
Tournaments are the organized part of Structured PvP. This mode allows for both teams and solo players to queue up in a competitive environment and play organized 5v5 matches. Below are the different kinds of tournaments available in game:

Pick-Up Tournaments: This tournament works as single-elimination tournament where people can sign up with a full roster or a partial roster and wait for the system to match 8 full teams or create them with the partial rosters. This tournament has 3 rounds of elimination where the last round is the finals and the winners will be rewarded with qualifier points that they can use for the monthly tournaments.

That information is from http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/48435-absolute-beginners-guide-to-spvp/

We might be able to form teams and do a Pick-Up Tournament to play with/against each other, OR we pick a server from the Hot Join list and end up on random sides. Either way, it would be something to try if the queues for WvW are punishing.

Tuesday evenings, Friday & Saturday (day & evening if I'm home) are my most likely times on.  Like LB, I'm pretty low level (even lower than he is) so I don't know how much use I will be.  Sunday (all day), Monday, Wednesday & Thursday nights are tied up w/ racing.  Pacific time zone here.

We got a few in Eternal Battlegrounds last night.  Our server kicks ass and we were dominating the on server.

WvWvW is interesting, a lot different than what I'm used to from other MMOs.  You need to run as a group, carry supplies and build seige equipment to attack the enemy's position.

BTW, you get a ton of XP and loot.

We went in with 5 people (which turns out to be more then enough to turn the tide of battle) and I personally had a blast.  Our server went from 3rd place to 1st in a matter of 2 hours while we formulated strategies, built siege weapons and put a strangle on the enemy's supply lines.  I really think that if we can pick a solid day of guild WvWvW we can have an insane amount of fun. 5 people was great, but 20 would be amazing.

BTW, right now our server is destroying the other 2.  We have 84,000, to Dragonbrand's 46,000 and Darkhaven's 36,000.

This would have never happened without our deathsquad of pain from last night.  Just saying.

It was pretty fun last night.  When we got into those big skirmishes, it reminded me of Illum from SWTOR...ONLY DONE RIGHT!!!  There were no ridiculously broken classes, and everyone pretty much dies with a 2 on 1 match up.  I learned a lot last night.

After you hit 80, you earn additional skill points.

In WvWvW you gain crazy experience.

You have to really stay on your toes at all times.

You need to pay attention to loot bags.

Get supply and use it, don't be a dick and log off with it.

Stay in groups.

Equip a speed potion.

Most importantly...RUN AWAY!!!

So true Rau.  All good points, especially this one:

Twice I was attacking a solo person only to have 4 or more of his buddies appear out of nowhere.

Sounded like some guys were enjoying themselves a bit last night.....up until the Red fortress got stormed.  cheeky

On a side note....I'm almost level 10!  blush  Think both the Elementalist & Ranger are sitting at 9, and the warrior is at 8.  Barely started dabbling w/ a gaurdian, that one is barely 3.  I kinda gave up on the thief...though the idea of setting traps and what not would be cool, but I've just been using him as a typical figher/warrior.  I'd progress a bit quicker if I would just settle on 1 for a while.  I do like how the storyline changes depending on what background you choose when setting up a toon.

So for the guild benefit, do we need more ranged, AoE or in you face melee?  I'll try to focus more on the one that can benefit the group the most.
