it's Friday.

I had a look at a couple of demos off XBL, NNN and Saints Row. I don't think I'll be spending any spondoolies on either title. NNN looks quite good but there is a lot more fog than I was expecting. In fact more fog than is really acceptable, by me at least. Add to this the fact that you really just bash the attack button repeatedly to kill lots of enemies then the fun soon wears off.  If a demo can't grab you then the game is not likely too either. The other demo was Saints Row. I really didn't like this game. First off, the graphics are nothing special. You can overlook this for good gameplay but I didn't find the gameplay enjoyable. In fact the idea of playing as a lowlife scumbag doesn't appeal. Neither does the trivialisation of gang culture and street crime. Oh it's only a game some will cry but while it may not necesarily glorify the scumbags that exist in society in such a situation it, as I said, trivialises it and it should be remembered that young and impressionable minds, including teenagers not just younger children, will view and play the game. I think it's a bit sad really that such games get published. Niether game will join my collection for varying reasons but mainly because they are not what I call fun. I did, however, pre-order GoW. Role on November!

Nothing much else to report really. It's cold and grey today thank God. It started that way yesterday but the afternoon was hot. I hope it stays cool all day. I'm damn tired. My baby slept better last night but woke at 4:20am before settling at 5am. Better than he has been during the last couple of weeks. Sooner his teeth come in the better.  My wife heads to India at the end of the month with work. I can see that being a fun week for me.

Oh yes, I got a call yesterday from two different recruitment agencies asking if I'd be interested in two different jobs. I never applied for anything, they were totally out of the blue. Do you think I should take this as a hint that it's time to move on? Is the Big Man upstairs trying to tell me something?
