I had the red lights happen tonight.  So I decided to try the towel trick.  That seemed like it might have worked.  But then later the 360 froze and I got the red lights again.

So I guess I will wait until the elite comes out.  Wonder if I could sell this on ebay.  I know hackers have tricks to revive systems.

Is the unit still in warranty, or would it cost you the $140 to fix?

It's been out of warranty for months. In fact, it's been in and out of warranty as Microsoft changed their policies :) It was born on 12-14-05. It's very flaky now. I can't run R6 anymore. It froze when I was spectating a match tonight. I can run GH2.

Honestly, unless you need the HDMI or the larger hard drive, with the new warranty policies at M$ I'd recommend returning it for service. You'd likely get a new one given its age, and irregardless it would come back with another full year warranty on it. If you do decide to get rid of it, let me know - I might do the leg work if it means saving some money for another 360 (need a 2nd for my kids ... they can't ever get on mine :D ). B.

I could use the hdmi, larger hdd, and black. Black fits my entertainment center. HDMI will allow me to finally have surround sound for my hdtv shows, and I am thinking of renting movies off their service now that they have a good selection. How does hdmi do that? I only have one optical audio input on my receiver. If I plug the 360 into my tv with hdmi, I can then plug optical from tv to receiver. Hence both the 360 and HDTV will get surround sound. We'll see what happens this weekend.

Yep, I can;t do anything stressful. R6, GRAW2, and Crackdown freeze up almost instantly in the menu. GH2 I can play about 5 songs before it freezes up. Though when I had it to my parents this weekend GH2 did not freeze up. I wonder if there is an issue with my power source or something. I am going to try a couple of things. Right now if I can just play GH2 I will be happy. Just last long enough for me to find an elite.
