Shared on Wed, 07/18/2007 - 11:11So, another week has gone by and I'm actually going to make my scheduled weekly update. Yeah for me, eh? I'll start with my exciting game play recap:
Texas Hold'em: Played every day and built my bank roll up to 32K. Then last night I was in a 4K tournament when these two Timmy's managed to get their bank rolls in the tournament up to over 10K each then stopped playing hands. This basically forced the rest of us to kill off each other. This was a major tragedy since I actually had a good time playing the three other players. We had all muted the Timmy's by the third hand played and were cracking jokes and laughing at them. Well, I finished 4th overall in the tournament, which is 2nd in the tournament among the fun players, so let the Timmy's enjoy their virtual cash. I had a great time after muting them, so I think I won in the end.
Carcassonne: I found a strategy guide online about this game and read through it. It had some interesting points and I tried them out against the computer. I won but more important was the I won by a larger margin than I would have normally. I'll spend some more time against the computer to make sure I've got the strategy down and then try it against human opponents. I got a feeling that the computer is way easy to beat.
Project Gotham Racing 3: This game came with the wireless wheel I bought earlier this week and after spending some time in the workshop on Saturday building a table designed around making racing more comfortable, I was ready to give it a try. Setting the game to the Novice level so that I could get used to driving/sliding these cars, I played the first set of races and won both of them. The car I picked seem to turn through the curves and didn't slide unless I really turned hard and forces the back end out . I like that. When I tried to race this at a friend house with the normal controller, I had major problems getting through the curves. I think this is due to my PC experiences since I always drove with a wheel on the PC. I'll play this one again this weekend, but after that it may sit on the shelf for a while since NASCAR 08 is coming out.
That's if for my gaming this week. I really looking forward to NASCAR 08 and hope that it doesn't disappoint me. I will probably either form a league or join one for this game. I ran a league back when Papyrus's NASCAR game was out for the PC. If not for the headaches a few of the drivers caused, I think that league would still be around. I may even change the header picture to the old one I used for the league.
I need to get the foot pedals shelf set up on my racing table that I built this weekend, add some storage shelves for the controllers and a mouse and keyboard for my living room PC and then paint it and that will complete the table. Once that's done, I'll post some pictures. This assumes that I can figure out how to do it and what the size limits are. But don't expect that to get done until late September or October. I've got to much on my plate as it is and probably shouldn't have started that project with all the unfinished projects I still have.
Chicago Bears tickets go one sale Saturday morning, so I'll be on the PC waiting for ticket master to tell me I got some. Then that evening is my Texas Hold'em tournament that I am hosting. With some luck, I'll place in the money this time. Almost made it last time, but I misread one of the guys I was playing and got beat.
See you in a week. I hope.....
