I am injured just now, crippled and lame. Well, not lame exactly, but certainly a little disabled. I was making dinner on SAturday night, and sliced my left middle finger open while I was cutiing up potatoes to mash. A very stupid mistake, considering I had sharpened the knife up right before I started, so we had to take a quick trip up to Accidnet & Emergency at the local hospital.
Foturnately it was just after 6 at night, so it hadn't really started to fill up with the weekend drunks, and I managed to get patched up after 15 minutes or so. Because the cut is right on the fingertip the nurse was hesitant to put any real stiches in because they're difficuly to put in there, and tend not to take well, so she fired on 5 or 6 paper stitches to hold it shut, put a dressing on and a finger bandage on top to keep it covered.
It is most annoying.
I can't wash mysel;f without putting a lycra glove or a plastic carrier bag over my left hand (I'm not supposed to let the dressing get wet) and I can't typpe properly (that's why the speeling mistakes are her) and I'm just generally handicapped by the whoile affair. I'm not allowed to remove the dressing intil Saturday. I had fun on my driving lesson on MOnday night, beloeve me.
So - I fired up WoW again on Saturday qafternoon (pre-injury of course) and started playing around a bit. IT felt really good, getting back into it after having a break. I think I'd let myself get a bit too focused on grinding up money and materials over the past couple of months. It's good to set yourself a goal, of course, but if you concentraTE on that goal too much, instead of just enjoying the task at hand, you've got a sure-fire recipe for burnout. I'll blog a bit more as I play more next week once my figer heals up - I was struggling last night to really get into the swing of it with my finger strapped up.
My finger is also getting right in the way of my latest project - paingintg up my Living Saint figure from my old Sisters of Battle army in Warhammer 40000. It took me a while to get the hang of it, and just as I was getting back into the swing of things - slicey choppy chop. So that;'s on hold until next week I think. I've started to get tempted by my old 40K stuff again - my frienbds ares till (mostly) playing, and i can go up tot he Games Workshop storee in Edinburgh one night a week and get a couple of games in I think.
I'll beed to brush up on my rules and lore again though, it's been so long since I played, I think I've forgotten mostly everything. Wityh my new and improved memory,it should be a dioddle...
