Back to School

I left school in 1992 for two reasons. First, I wasn't performing to standards for various reasons. Second, I couldn't afford to stay.

It was my intent to go back to school. But for one reason or another, I didn't make a serious attempt to go back. Today, I am 38 years old, married to an incredible woman with 4 kids under 3 and I have an awesome job for a leading biotech company.

And I am going to go back to school. This is not such a big deal. I mean people do this all the time, right? What makes me so special?

I'm planning to go back to MIT,  Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It was a challenge enough in my 20's. But I feel that I am wiser in my old age and much better equipped to deal with the challenges.

This week I am going to send a letter to Student Support Services with a copy of my resume to let them know of my intentions. It has been 15 years since I was a student there. I am not sure they will even re-admit me. But I have to try. I'm sharing this with you because the best way to ensure follow through on a goal is to publicly declare it. I'm going to need all the nagging in the world to make sure I follow through on this.
