Discovery (Or why Bungie is not quite God)

This morning, I woke up at 5am - my alarm is not set for that time, I just woke up - and my brain was on, which honestly is an extraordinarily frequent occurance (curses!).  Anyway, I have no real control over strange thought processes in the wee hours of the morning, apparantly, because today, my brain flitted over the idea of discovery - man discovering things about the world whether it be a cure for a disease, or a new sea creature, or how to build a piece of electronics.  I thought about how we celebrate those people and "achievements".

But then, I thought about how God made this world and us in such a way that that discovery is not only possible, but develops relatively slowly over time.  We didn't just discover everything about earth in one day.  And, we have not come close to discovering everything about life on earth yet.  There's more - tons more - to explore and discover.  On a smaller scale, I used the analogy in my head of Bungie and their "I Love Bees" website from Halo 2 - the careful planning of mystery for people to discover.  While finding the pieces of the puzzle was an achievement, the building of the puzzle was pretty amazing by itself.

So, props to God for creating a world that keeps giving, and is organic (self-generating) all at the same time - it's quite a feat, and we are merely finding the secrets pre-built in.  What will we find tomorrow?

Awesome thoughts Tait! I do that too, wake up at 3:30 or something with thought processes engaging in warp drive. Nothing to do but hang on and enjoy the ride!

@dk - that's all I see as I go to sleep. I totally understand. I usually try to watch a comedy before going to bed to \"scrub\" halo 3 out, but it just doesn't work. *sigh*
