Shared on Mon, 07/07/2008 - 11:21So its the 4th of July...big barbecue planned...ribs, steak, corn on the cob and lots of booze. Nope...cancelled. Instead of a night of celebration my family got a night of worry. The day started off ok...seemed like it was going to go off without a hitch. Then I go pickup my grandfather from dialysis. He seems fine..a little tired but ok. Get him home and he goes in to use the restroom. Now on dialysis days I have to go in there with him cause he just doesn't have the strength to stand back up on his own. He says he thinks he's ready so I go to help him up..nope..has to sit back down. Next thing I know...his right side is shaking in spasms and he slumps over passed out. He's totally unresponsive so I call out to call 911. He comes to after a couple of minutes the paramedics show up and help him get out of there and into his wheel chair. Most of his stats are fine but his bloop pressure is 243/82 so yeah...off to the hospital with him. They ran a bunch of tests but couldn't really find an answer to what happened other then..maybe it was the heat with the dialysis weakness...either way they kept him till Sunday night...finally released him. Which I got to tell you was worrysome. Cause the last few times he has been in there they kept him for a week or a little more...and by that time he has weakened so much he has to go to a phys therapy center to help get his strength back up before they will release him which can take up to a month. So needless to say I am relieved to have my grandfather home once more. Also a little woried about today.which is another dialysis day. Hoping today goes better so keep your fingers crossed.
On a side note, I watched some movies this weekend while I was working. I know..I had to work some this weekend and it sucked. Anywho...I watched 27 dresses with my mom...wasn't a bad movie...actually has some funny moments, also saw Jumper..again wasn't too bad, but thestory line could have been stronger...lastly I saw Bucket List...now that was a good movie..I'd recommend it to everyone...however it is a bit morbid to watch if you have someone in the hospital. I sat there after the movie wondering if my grandfather had certain things he wished he could of done or seen then I started thinking about what things I'd like to do. I'm still young..only 28, but you never know when your time is up. So..for the rest of the year I am going to make it a point to save money up and the beginning of next year I am going to head to Europe and trek around for a few weeks. It is something I have always wanted to do and never have. What are some of the things that you want to do or see while you still can?
