I was trying to come to grips with not being able to play a game that I've spent so much time on for the past 2.5 years and I thought, what the hell try a different brand of card since all the comments I read about this issue usually involved and NIVIDIA card. Went to Best Buy, grabbed a simple AMD Radeon card and brought it back home. Now immediately, I noticed the frame rates were about half of what I was used to; I normally rocked 60fps but now was around 24-35 and it could get higher but not much. However, when it got lower than that I noticed how much smoother of a ride it was vs. the NVIDIA. I could still move, it wasn't choppy and I didn't sit there with my thumb up my ass only to come back dead when the damn video finally caught up. So I kept it in all day and no issues, so I was overjoyed to say the least. So the next day I took it back, along with the NVIDIA one I bought two weeks earlier and traded up for a little better card but at Best Buy there's only so much. There was a priced difference of $100 between the 4860 and 4880 (may have the numbers wrong) so I said fuck it and didn't pay the extra $100 but did get a higher card that I originally bought the day earlier so it was a $50 difference. I also then grabbed that WOW mouse I blogged about last month with the money I got back so I came away even. The only complaint is that the new card FPS aren't much better at all but hey I'm not dc'ing. I can always upgrade and when I do it will not be to an NVIDIA card until there's a new series or something.
Saturday night some friends came up and we all went to Fitzgeralds to see Brave Combo. Berwyn's known for Son of Svengolie, the Car Kabob and Fitzgeralds, it's just a great place to see a band. Brave Combo places a mix of Polka/Ska/Tango or whatever but lemme tell you those horns are cool and they're a fun band if you ever get the chance to go see them. Here's a sample

Finally I have to share this with you as it made me crack up. On For the Love of Ray J, he's getting down to his final women and he takes one to a strip bar and she's coaxed up on the stage to give him a dance. I'm going to link the whole clip, but for those of you like me you can fast forward to the 1.20 mark and watch her climb up on stage and at the 1.48 mark she climbs the pole to deliver the coup de grace. The move is fantasitc, but even more funny is his reaction; watching the look on his face and then to hear him talk it was just a funny, funny scene. I tried to embed it but "the html codes are not allowed" so here's the link http://www.vh1.com/video/play.jhtml?id=1607682&vid=358498. Check it out.
