Second, while this might have been done earlier elsewhere I wanted to share with you some information to help you prepare for your trip and things to do while you're in town.
First, you'll be meeting and staying in Rosemont. Rosemont is sandwiched in between Chicago and O'Hare airport (also in Chicago) and has the second largest population of hotel rooms in the Chicago area mainly do to the proximity to the Airport. Its convention center, at just under 1 million square feet is in the top 20 largest in the United States. Rosemont has a small population of 4,000 people, but a large population of activity. It was a hair away from landing the states last casino license but due to a questionable reputation of mob related activity over the years the city was denied and the license when to the City of Des Plaines which is right next door.
The convention center will be hosting Wizard World Chicago Comicon during the time you'll be in town, which is open to the public. More information can be found here http://www.wizardworld.com/home-ch.html. Rosemont also has a good variety of dining and evening activities, the destination website is http://www.rosemont.com/index.php and it has all the information on Rosemont for your trip.
Some of you may be coming before and/or staying after so you may have time and be planning to do other things in the area. If you check out http://www.chicagolandtravel.com/ you can get access on events and information on things in and all around Chicago. This is the Chicago Plus website and Chicago Plus is our Regional Tourism Office for Chicago. Funded in part by organizations like mine, it is an excellant source to find out about Legoland or shopping Schaumburg, the Jimmy Buffet concert at Toyota Park that weekend, a Cubs or White Sox game or information on Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture tours right here in OP. There are links to many destination sites there including my own to assist you with information for whatever you might want to plan
Finally, if you happen to be driving to the LAN and coming through Illinois you may be interested in visiting http://www.enjoyillinois.com/home.aspx. This is the states tourism website and it can be helpful in planning your route and/or stops along the way.
If anyone coming to town has any visitor related questions, or needs help to make your stay better feel free to PM me or post here. Otherwise, enjoy your stay in Chicago/Rosemont/Illinois. Game on!
