Shared on Fri, 06/04/2010 - 21:49I just returned from Day #2 of the International Classic Video Game Tournament at Funspot and have a ton of content to go through, edit and post. Unfortunately, I have to be at work at 6 am tomorrow, so you will have to wait a while for my full report. in the meantime you can keep track of all the action at Funspot 12 via the standings over at Aurcade . These stats are updated in real-time using a new system developed by David Hernly of Aurcade specifically for use with mobile hardware such as the I-pad in conjunction with tournaments such as the one this weekend.
Upon leaving Funspot today, I was ranked 17th overall and 12th in the Manufacturer's challenge. Review of the Aurcade feed though will tell a different story as those still on site continue to edge their scores up. A full explanation of the scoring methods will be forthcoming as soon as I can edit my interviews with David and Gary Vincent of the American Classic Arcade Museum.
So far, my brightest moment came yesterday when I traded the lead in the Mystery Game Challenge on Toobin' with Matt DuBrey. We went back & forth, each adding small amounts to our score to take back first place. In the end, Matt bested me despite one final attempt as the closing bell for the day was sounded. Congrats Matt.
So stay tuned to this page for the full report of Funspot 12, which continues through 6pm on Sunday. And be sure to check out Aurcade for up to the minute standings and some other very cool material, inlcuding a nationwide data base of coin-op games "in the wild".
