State Fair of Texas

Oooooggg..... I ate my weight in fried foods yesterday at the state fair. It was WONDERFUL but tiring and very filling. We had:

- fried bananas topped with whipped cream and chocolate
- fried Frito pie
- corndogs (the orginal ones from Fletcher's)
- fried Oreos (these were unbelieavably delicious! I'm glad I don't have a fryer or I'd make them nonstop)
- fried Snickers (what a tasty mess)
- fried beer (oh yes, it can be done. It wasn't very good though.)
- and some damn fine fried Mexican food!

and a few beers (Shiner, of course!)

It was a beautiful afternoon/evening- perfect weather, not too crowded, etc. We saw a bird show that was really very cool. A girl fell in the pond when a chicken ran out at her. THat wasn't the point of the show, but it was a funny moment. Too bad we later found out it was staged.

So tonight the new BF and I are going to my boss's house to organize stuff for tomorrow's big orchestra region event... I have 15 students entering it this year, and I hope a few of them make it. Ok, I hope ALL of them make it, but realistically I hope I get at least 3. I told my boss (who's about 7 months older than me) she can pass judgment on Matt after he's out of earshot. I don't think she'll have a problem with him though. He's pretty fantastic. I fell asleep last night while we were talking (we were laying on the couch after we got back from the fair)--- apparently I just fell asleep mid-sentence, I was so exhausted! He let me sleep about an hour, then woke me up to say goodnight and to remind me to lock the door behind him. He had an hour's drive home and work early this morning so he couldn't stay, but I thought it was sweet he let me sleep there a bit, tucked into his shoulder,  rather than just take off right away. See?? Good guy.

Now off to play with weird foods- I got a little too creative at the market this week- prickly pear cactus, pineapple, portabella mushrooms, and pork. I'm thinking I do an Asian dish with this. It'll be weird regardless. Happy weekend everyone!
