Waterborn
Shared on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 21:28I just received a PM from ATC_1982 letting me know that my blog just made it to #12 on the top 2oldp2lay.com blogs of all time. I would like to thank each and every one of you who takes the time to check in and read my ramblings and to those who endured my barrage of TRON-related posts in 2010 (Watch out, word is that there will be another TRON film going into production soon, so enjoy your reprieve while you can). As I mentioned in my previous blog, I will be focusing on the Gamers Gone Wild event that we are planning for the PAXEast weekend over the next 2 1/2 months and then looking toward my wedding in spring of 2012. I hope to keep posting interesting content for my followers (including my interview with Adrienne Barbeau, which is 90% edited and almost ready to go). However, you may have to wait longer between posts and my personal life takes precidence over my online activities.
New Addition to the Waterborn Arcade
On a more specifically gaming related note, I sold my SMASH TV arcade cab this week and made payment for a Sinistar which will be shipped from the DC area, along with several other games as part of a bulk puchase that I went in with some of my fellow NEACF collectors. For those of you who are not familiar with Sinistar, it was developed by John Newcomer for Williams in 1982. If you attended PAXEast in 2010 and were able to make it up to the ACAM retro arcade room on the 3rd floor, you may have seen one of these cabs (it was the one that had the text "Will Wheaton Played This Game" scrolling across the screen). The game, like many of Williams early releases (Defender, Stargate, Robotron) is brutally difficult and few people ever get past the second stage. I can't wait to get this game in my arcade and see how high I can push my person High Score. Here are a few pics of the cab that the seller sent me so you can get an idea of what condition this game is in.
I will post more pics of the cab when it arrives and hopefully include a video of some gameplay. I also plan to record one of my play throughs of TRON (sorry, I know I said I would lay off for a bit) and Robotron for future posting as well. My Donkey Kong skills are currently not worth the digital memory at this point in time.
