Shared on Fri, 02/04/2011 - 08:21Hm. I woke up to see 6" of snow. I don't recall being transferred to CT overnight! It's so bizarre- 4 days of no school. Cabin fever is setting in. I went out to my mailbox yesterday. That's it. Today I may actually NEED to go to the grocery store, so I think I'll be experiencing our fine public transportation system. Dang! Wish I'd gotten my CDL. Well, I live in a decent part of town so hopefully it will be OK.
DeathSapnk you sadden me. A bug or problem of some kind with the ending means I won't have 100% achievement. It bothers me so much- knowing I COULD earn them all, yet am powerless to do anything. Not like those other games where I know that only the devs or the truly insane will get all the achievements. It's like erasing a chalkboard and leaving only two stray marks- those little marks would keep me up at night. (My OCD is getting stronger. In fact, let's just alphabetize those letters to make it nicer. CDO. Ahhhh)
So day 4.... XBOX again? Probably. I know I *should* get to work on my taxes. Maybe I will. First, I'll have blueberry waffles again, some hot tea, maybe read some, then we'll see about being productive. So glad I don't work from home. Can't take a snow day. Or can you, if your whole company shuts down?
Things I will NOT be doing today:
- donning clothing of various texture and color and rolling around in the snow like a moron
- taking copious pictures of all the white stuff.
- building a snowman of any kind
- drinking hot chocolate (yuck)
- posting on facebook pics of my car covered in snow.
- going to work (wheee! Or rather, in the tone of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a rather lackluster yaaaaayyyy and waving of a banner)
Oh I tried two new games yesterday: Faery, which I thought would be lame, but I liked it. It's like Dragon Age, but I think it's better. Having only played dragon age for like 20 minutes (most of which involved me creating my character), that may not be a fair comparison. You get to create your faery, and go on increasingly more challending quests. Levelling up is fast, so that's a nice little bonus. It's a very visual, artistic game for people who appreciate fantasty art. The loading screens are very pretty too, with artists' renderings of some of the characters. You have some choice of personality there as well. You can answer the goody-two-shoes answers, or give the sharper retorts and characters treat you a bit differently. The battles are fairly quick, and never so overwhelming that I've had to respawn somewhere. I guess that makes it an easy game. Maybe that's part of why I enjoyed it so much. I'm about halfway through it now.
I also tried Lucidity. Also thought it would be lame, but it's not. It was like the best aspects of Limbo and Braid put together. I also don't remember swearing as heartily at any other game since Red Dead as when I played this one last night. I finally put the controlled down around 2am, fuming because I suck so hard at it. It's faster paced than Limbo, allows you to play your pieces freely (sorta like Braid, in that you don't have to move to an exact place or do everything in a preordained way), and has a dark undertone to a child-like theme. I would recommend it if you liked Limbo but wish it were faster paced, or if you liked the freedom of choice in solving puzzles in Braid. Unlike Braid, this one has no single correct pathway or answer. There are also bonus worlds. You don't have to collect all the pieces (fireflies, in Lucidity) before moving on to the next level. I got the first two acheivements easily enough, and worked hard to get the next. I don't think I'llever have them all, given my level of sucking at it. Anyway, both Faery and Lucidity are worth what I paid for them.
Now for some Elixir of Life.... Diet Coke. (which I still call Coke)
