Fame and glory

I'm so excited! A former student of mine won a national scholarship prize, and is being featured on a national radio show next Saturday on NPR!!! I'm so proud of him! This is the second student of mine to have won this incredible honor. (I have to say, I have little to nothing to do with their musical development-- their private lesson teachers did the meat of the work and should take all the credit.)

Concert with my youth group is tonight. My BF is coming, and so are my brother and his wife. Matt hasn't met Jenny before... she's an interesting person. I told him to take a sedative before talking with her. JK. She's nice enough, just... fake and irritating. She thinks she's so posh but she's cheap enough to carry a knockoff Chanel bag. She's also one of those religious fundamentalists who can't possibly expand her mind into accepting the POSSIBILITY that there may be other ways of thinking than just hers. (It's a little fun to provoke an argument there. Heh. Matt, being an athiest, is going to have some fun with this.) Sad as it is, my brother and sister and I (both of whom live under and hour from me, and each other) haven't managed to get together for Christmas yet, so after my concert tonight my brother and I are doing our Christmas. Last year we met at the end of March, so I guess it's good that we aimed for a few weeks earlier this time. I think we're all just too busy.

Apartment search is going well- have appointments lined up for spring break to visit them and weed out the duds.

So excited about Portal 2 coming out!!! Pre-ordered that one. Civ Rev is giving me a headache- I can't get a technology victory in time. I've come SOOO close. One more turn would have done it. Trying to do it better but it's not working out yet.
