Batman

I'm really trying hard to get into the Batman Arkham Asylum game. I recognize that it's awesome, and if you're a fan of Batman comics, even awesomer (nice grammar, I know). I know there's a ton of side quest puzzle things, and that the glide kick is super cool, but I'm lacking the enthusiasm that I feel I should have for this game. I got it through Game Fly and have liked it, but do I really like it enough to keep? I know I *should* but if I don't will I kick myself for it later? Probably. I better hold onto it then, and can always sell it later if I really don't get into it.

I dl'd a few demos yesterday: the new Galaga (clouds part, angels sing when I think of the old one), Deadliest Warrior 2, and Dead Block.

Deadliest Warrior 2 looks good to me because I'm a history buff (racking up the nerd points, I know) and it looks like it might be like Mortal Kombat (huzzah for SNES MK!!!)

Dead Block: looks good, probably humorous. 50's setting, zombie attack game where you build crap to keep zombies out and then finally have to bash their brains in. Screen shots look decent.

Galaga: the new one I'm not so sure I'm going to be as crazy about. I think nostalgia plays a big part in why I like Galaga (original) so much, more than it being an awesome game.

Anyway, those are my predictions, will update in comments ater I play each of them (which is right now).

Small update on Matt situation: this weekend was lovely- it was as if I had never said anything. If anything, he has stepped up an effort to make sure I feel wanted. Hoping he's doing it for real, not just lulling me into a false sense of security before pulling the rug out from under my feet. More on that later perhaps. For now, all is well.

Galaga: WAY better than I expected, and I bought it immediately. Great colors, lots of action, more capabilities and intuitive controls. Deadliest Warrior: surprisingly sucked. Maybe the full version is better, but the demo is so shoddy that I can't be bothered to buy the rest of it. Too bad, I was hoping that one would rock. I couldn't make myself lose, even when I was fighting badly. It just presented no challenge and limited options (again, maybe the full version steps it up, but it had better be WAY UP before I'd consider buying it). Dead Block: cute, but very camp. I liked it, but I'm not sure I liked it well enough to blow 800 Microsoft Points on it. I'll run through the demo again and see. It's mostly smash stuff up, look for things, bludgeon a few zombies with a little snippet of guitar hero thrown in. A little weird- the premise is that zombies "dance to death" when you play them some rock n roll. Yeah. If it were 400 points I'd buy it. (Secretly, I think because I already got an achievement, a special weapon and a gamer pic is why I want the game.)

I liked a lot of the batman stuff but i actually didn't like all the melee fighting with it. For that reason i'll probably be passing on Arkham City since they just made the combat even more complicated from what I've read.
