Shared on Thu, 08/04/2011 - 08:33In today's blog post, I am going a sort of a different direction. I'm splitting up the post.
My first offering is an absolutely wonderful Retro look at Future Fashions.
In this uncensored version of the video "Girls on Film" by Duran Duran, we see... well me making up a lot of stupid excuses why I'm about to post a video full of half naked and naked women... aint the future great like that?
The following video is NOT SAFE FOR WORK!!!
In the second and third video here, I present innovation in music for the 21st Century.
These are live video performances of the Blue Man Group, both featuring the beautiful Tracy Bonham.
I consider this group on the vanguard of musical production and performance.
With their specialized instrumentation, mixed with lived band performances, this corporation of men combine auditory and visual stimulation with every performance.
This colaboration of geniuses also produces music with a depth of soul arguably not seen since the innovative days of Pink Floyd, with lyrics full of social commentary and social observation.

Now for the last part of the post, a little more serious, although nowhere close to as... sightly as the previous.
Here is a youtube clip of the segment of "Future Weapons" in which the Navy's new "Electromagnetic Rail Gun" is featured.
Those of you who have played Halo: Reach and the Fallout series will be familiar with the ever popular Gauss Weapons, as is found on the Boss Hog in Halo and in the Hands of the Brotherhood of Steele in Fallout. These are "coil guns" that use the same principles of electromagnetism that a "rail gun" uses.
The real world, modern day version of this weapon is no where close to being hand held, and may never be considering the sheer amount of power it takes to fire a single round (the circuit yields around 8 megajoules of kinetic energy). For comparison, ONE Megajoule is approximately the kinetic energy of a one-tonne vehicle moving at 100 MPH (160 Km/h).
Although this is not specifically a "Gauss Weapon" (as Gauss weapons are specifically "coil guns"), they both work on the same principle of electromagnetism. If you are really interested in the differences, a video follows this clip to explain.
A quick recap of this weapons capability, frictionless firing using electromagnetic propulsion. A single projectile traveling at 8 times the speed of sound. The power and speed to hurl a projectile within a 400 mile range at deadly accuracy without need for warheads (because of the damage done by purely kinetic energy). It is arguable that there is no armor on earth safe from this technology. The future is now.
This video is safe for work.
As my final thoughts, I would just like to quote; "All I see is not for me. What I want, you have not got. I tried to use the things you sold me, no matter what the cost. Tried to go the way you told me, but each time I got lost. The stairs didn't lead me anywhere. I'm taking the fire escape, up to the roof. I don't care if it's not the way you find the truth. And when I get up that high, I don't know what I'll find. But I'd rather look at the sky, then wonder why I let you take my time. Time to make this climb to rise above."- Blue Man Group "Up to the Roof"
Coming Soon: Oingo Boingo, Live & how Danny Elfman, and those like him, herald the coming Singularity.
