Oblivion and the Rangers

Oh Rangers, you make me sad. So close! The win was HANDED to you in game 6 and you folded. *Sighhhhh* 38 years and no World Series invite, then 2 years in a row you choke. (To be fair, I'm thrilled they were in the WS again! Heck of a team.) It was like watching the wheels fall off a train in game 7 after the first inning- error after error and then you saw the panic. I bet it stank of nervous sweat in the Rangers' bullpen. I feel bad for them, that they just spectacularly fell apart. Good up until then though. Cruz is gonna get the most heat for that drop in game 6. Better luck next year boys.

Oblivion- I have decided that I like it. I opened the first gate (against the advice of not visiting Kvatch) and have battled through it some. Not done with that portal yet, but nearing the end of the Tower I think. It's hard because I suck at the bow so badly. I have to get in close for combat if I want to do any real damage. That and I'm only level 2 so I have shitty stuff and crappy skills. Working on it though. Oh I learned the importance of regularing saving. Sucks to have to go alllll the way back on something when I got myself killed. So yeah, I'm going to play through it. I like it. What a huge game though! I know I've only scratched the surface but dang! Just the little parts I've seen are big. Very beautiful scenery too. I really like it.

Started DeathSpank on Insane mode--- we'll see if I ever finish that. I was having trouble with the first guys I encountered so it doesn't look very promising.

Today is my dad's birthday and in honor of that, and also the new winter house they just bought near me, I am commissioning a new mailbox for them, as theirs is old and crappy. The one I designed is a simple brick shell with an inlaid address marker (easier for people to see as they drive by, looking for the right house) and a planter box off to the side, in which I'll put something that lives forever like rosemary or ivy. Or both! I'm meeting the guy today at the house to get an estimate and show him design ideas. Hopefully I can afford it. If not, he gets iTunes and Starbucks cards. Or some shirts. My brother didn't want to go in on it for this gift!! He and his wife are actually temporarily moving into the house this weekend because they're building a new house near Fort Worth, and stupidly sold theirs off 6 months earlier than they should have. Luckily my parents let them use THEIR new house FOR FREE (this really burns me still), and now they can't even enjoy their first winter in Texas in 10 years because the house they bought has people living in it! What a waste! I say my brother shouldn't have sold the house before they even broke ground on their new one. Plus my parents spent all that cash on a new house, completely redid it, and now that it's cold they can't come here to enjoy it which is why they bought the house in the first place!!!

Enough griping. Now I need to go carve pumpkins and visit the grocery store for some candy. Every time the doorbell rings Monday night I'm gonna pop a piece of chocolate in my mouth and yell "TRICK!"  back through the door when the kids yell Trick or Treat. Just kidding, that's mean. Happy Halloween!

Archery is an art. Click down on the left-stick to go stealth. Go barefooted so no-one hears you. If your archery skills are low and not a class-skill, you'll tire from holding the string back, so time your shots. The crosshair is instrumental, the further away the target is, the higher you should aim. Basically, you can make most longshots by having the crosshair just a few pixels above the target. You'll hit the torso 99% of the time. And finally, take it very, very slow. When stealth-skill is still low, breathing will give you away. Stay near walls and in the shadows. The trick to opening Oblivion far enough to get cool content without advancing the story further is to do the questline until you've brought Markus to the Blades Citadel. Factionwise, it's smart to do the Brotherhood after that and then the thieves guild. Ideally try to do the Arena as early as possible as the rewards stink anyway and postponing it will only give trouble when you do get around to it.
