My boyfriend and his family are fantastic! I got copper cookware for Christmas, and a lathe! I have missed having an actual garage filled with powertools that I actually know how to use. Matt and I had been talking like 8 months ago about what we'd equip a fantasy garage with and I said the top of my list would be a lathe. My Matt is amazing- he came through with it, a full set of tools, and some wood to get started. I was so shocked! I'm still in shock. And to top it off, copper pots and pans?!?!?! It's like my life is complete. :) <3 He also remembered this random pair of shoes i tried on once a month or two ago, and ordered them for me. I had decided not to get them that day we were shopping because I was trying to save money, and he wrote down the number for it and put it on his shopping list. :)

So I went to Colorado to visit my parents over Christmas, and my dad and I went skiing the day after I got there. We hit the slopes super hard- skiied one blue run for a warm up and spent the rest of the morning and afternoon on the black side. No moguls (bad knees) but we tore up the steep stuff real good. :) I hadn't skiied that hard in years, and it was just fantastic. On the third to last run my boot popped open- the same boots I've had since I was 13 BTW- and wouldn't stay shut through the whole run after that. We had to call it a day, but at least it was a good day! I gotta hand it to my dad who is 70- he kept up with me pretty well. The rest of the holiday was spent baking and gorging myself on diabetes-inducing foods. Christmas was a success, and my very handsome honey was waiting for me at the airport to pick me up- he parked the car and actually met me at the baggage carousel, which is more than I can say my ex ever did for me when I traveled alone.

Today I spent 9 hours in Skyrim- my last day off before I go back to work tomorrow (well, technically today). I've been staying up past 2AM most nights and when I tried to go to bed at 10:30 tonight it didn't work out so well, so here I am typing away, catching up on what all I missed while I was gone. Being that today was my last day of freedom and Matt wasn't sitting on my couch with me today, I decided to level up and finish off some open quests. What a great game! I call 9 hours in Skyrim "time well spent".

Matt's parents have asked to meet mine... I would like to say "Sure, let's all have a nice meal together next time my parents are in town", but we're talking about two groups of people that couldn't be more different. Aside from being white heterosexuals, there are no similarities that I can find. Matt and I are both nervous, and have been coaching our parents on what to say and more importantly, what not to say.

So far 2012 has been pretty awesome. I hope it's gonna be a trend. Happy New Year!

Yeah, nothing like parents that are complete opposites... My in-laws drove my father nuts... (and they still do me me as well)... *sigh*

@ATC--- yeah that's what a lady at school said. No joke, I'm telling you. His family is like the Fockers. :) They're fun.
