Kung Fu Strike Has Me Excited About Games

OK, so it has been a loooong time since posted any gaming related material that wasn't about classic arcade cabs. Lately, with everything going on (my upcoming wedding, my Cooking in the Great Outdoors project and life in general) it has been difficult for me to get too excited about "modern gaming" with the requisite investment in time required for most games that have been released in the past six months. I love the concept of Skyrim, but when I think of having to invest 100+ hours into the game, my head hurts and I opt to go downstairs to my basement arcade and play Donkey Kong.

So I was a bit surprised when I felt some of that old "game stoke" rising in me when I checked out the recent email that I received from Josh Hoover at 7Sixty games about their upcoming release Kung Fu Strike. The classic 70's song "Kung Fu Fighting" immediately came into my head and a grin appeared on my face as I began to read about this release for XBLA.

As you can see by the box art above, this game has a unique look, reminiscent of the cell-shaded goodness that was Afro Samurai, one of my favorite games to date for the XBox 360. Though I haven't seen any actual gameplay yet, the screenshots below got me drooling, thinking about the button mashing mayhem potential this game promises.

Hopefully, Kung Fu Strike will live up to my expectations when it launches on XBLA soon. In the meantime, check out this conceptual trailer for the game.
