I've been called three times.  I have never served.  Usually the parties get to the court and I think realism sets in for most folks that they aren't going to win and they settle before getting judged "by their peers", which, while looking around the jury pool seem to be a lot better quality than the defendent's box.

I have actually served on 2 criminal cases. Once for drug possession with intent to sell/distribute and the other was a domestic battery case.

Honestly I enjoyed both of them, seeing the process and being part of it is honestly pretty amazing. If you get a civil case it might suck balls compared to a criminal one.

The hardest thing to do is to truly be able to ignore personal assumptions and to be able to make a judgement based on the evidence that is presented and the believability of the people involved.

GL man. When it is all over give up the details you can!

I served once but I turned out to be one of the alternates so I didnt have to vote on a verdict.

It was a traffic accident case.

The actual process was fascinating.  The other jurors were not the losers you imagine.  Mostly professional types who's jobs paid while on jury duty.  A couple young people just out of college.  It got boring sometimes but mostly it was very interesting and a nice one week paid break from my normal job.

The "expert" they hired to recreate the accident was a complete dufus.  I wanted to jump up and explain the charts to him...he was fucking it up so bad.

Anyways.  I dont think Ill try to dodge jury duty again.
