No problem - thank you for the video - awesome!! At the end there I pretty much moved over and let you (and then later GGG) go by because there was no sense in me pushing it. You guys had much better tires than me at that point. I screwed myself early in the race by spinning on lap-4 and dropping back to dead-last. I was pushing the car so hard that I was roasting the tires. I seriously contemplated a third pit stop with 5-laps to go becuase I knew I had nothing left at that point. :)

In other words, there is no Mazda race scheduled for next Sunday. If someone wants to host a "one off" race, speak up now.
I really enjoyed the race. Thanks to Grim for alerting me to the need to switch to Racing Soft tires. I went with a one stop strategy and it worked. Getting sixth place in this field was an achievement for me, even though I know Trial Mountain better than the back of my hand.

Not going to happen. I already have to practice enough for the iRacing series I run. I never have looked at GT or Forza as serious racing sims that require extensive practice and/or tuning. I understand others do and that is fine. There are just too many fun cars and tracks in GT5/GT6/Forza 5 for me to experience and drive. If I had to practice and/or tune, there is a lot I would miss out on.

Snappy, I usually don't practice ahead of time for our GBR events. Rather, I just practice during the practice time that I schedule for our sessions. The problem with iRacing is that unless the official series is at that track during the time you want to practice, we would have to set up a paid hosted session in order to be able to run laps online together, or hope that someone else has one going during the time we want. The iRacing practice I was referring to was the practice sessions for the official series I run. Otherwise, practice is limited to "test" sessions which are single player only, any car and track, anytime. I will run GT6 with you anytime we both are available. We also need to run some Forza 5. I have some favorite cars that we should try out.
I think you should buy the Corvette before the Star Mazda. We are running it on February 23 at Watkins Glen. Watkins Glen is paid content, but every iRacer should own it. It should be illegal for any self respecting iRacer to not own Watkins Glen. The Star Mazda is an acquired taste. It is much faster than the Skippy, although both cars are comparably twitchy. I had a disastrous race on Sunday morning in our Skippy event. It is better that you were not there to see me stink up the joint as much as I did. It was horrible.
I keep forgetting that about iRacing. I guess I'm stuck in a console state of mind. That must be why you and rusty mentioned using TS when on iRacing...you guys used your individual SP practice sessions but could still chat. Well, maybe some F1 2013 then.
On a side note... I think that these penalties are kind of screwy and taking away from the racing somewhat. At one point late in race I made a pretty aggressive move to pass on someone driving a white car (I think it was Snoop.) I had a big run on him down the front-stretch and I took to the outside (right-side of track) to pass. We made it clean until the tunnel entrance where there just is not enough room for two cars. We bumped each other but for whatever reason it registered him a penalty (I saw his car turn transparent and slow.) In this instance it hurt him - and I think I heard him comment about it post-race. He did absolutely nothing to deserve a penalty.
There was another point in the race that someone in front of me spun (same spot - tunnel entrance.) All I saw was a cloud of smoke and I had no idea which way to go. As I'm clearing the smoke I see the car, but he's ghosting, so I go right through him. Yeah I was relieved that I didn't hit him, but technically I did hit him, but his "penalty" allowed me to pass right through him. I saw a similar instance at Brands Hatch. Kind of takes away from what little 'realism' exists in the game - wrecks (and avoiding them or not) are part of racing.
Yeah the penalty system is flawed someone started ghosting in front of me for no apparent reason. Then later someone clearly cut a corner and nothing happened.:(
Updating the OP with the info for Big Willow right now. Also, I will be turning off the "Penalty" option. I think we can Police ourselves. If a driver bumps someone bad enough just have the courtesy to give the posotion back as soon as possible.
