My little girl loves cartoons, but then again, what 3 year old doesn't. Every night before bed, I'll read her a story and then let her watch a 20 minute or so cartoon. She usually wants to watch Backyardigans, Carebears or some other kind of rainbow colored cartoon with cheery tunes, but last night she went rifling through my DVD collection and pulled out my Best of The Masters of the Universe DVD set (which was sandwiched in between my copies of the original Transformers the Movie and GI Joe the Movie). I'm not sure why she wanted the change of pace, but hell, I'd rather watch one of these

Wow, has it really been nearly seven months since my last blog post? I guess that I'm the tortoise to most people's hare here. Well, my blogs tend to be long and rambly, so I guess that kinda makes up for the lack of posts. Anyway, it's a special occasion and I've got a lot on my mind to offload...

I love classic games, and I love seeing what smaller developers are doing outside the realm of traditional retail based games on Xbox Live Arcade. XBLA, if they strategically planned out their releases correctly, could be a great tool to continue feeding 360 owners with content in between major retail releases. Before I start my rant, I have a question - are you more likely to buy an Arcade game on a week when you've got nothing pressing to play or when you've just picked up a $60 retail game that you've been waiting months for?

I used to love going to the arcade when I was a kid. I still have found memories of heading over to the “Jolly Time” at the mall while my mom would shop or playing at the Putt-Putt during their Saturday 50 arcade tokens for $5 days. Yeah, these places were dark, almost seedy, and often smoky (back before they banned smoking in malls around here), but they were awesome. Arcades were the first experience that I had with multiplayer gaming on a larger scale than playing NES Contra with my next door neighbor.

Well, it's back to work today after 2 weeks of being away. Going back to work is truly one of those cases where absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder. Anyway, things are slow because of the lack of carryover from the end of the year. All I've really got to do right now is sit around and play on the internets while I wait for a project to roll in. Ho hum... Being a registered engineer, I do have to get a certain number of PDHs (Professional Development Hours, basically continuing education credits) each year to keep my license - maybe I'll take a few online courses to ease the bor
