War is Hell

This is from a 19 year old Marine who was killed last year in Iraq.  His family recently found the letter in with his personal effects that were delivered to them by a Marine Casualty Assistance Officer.  No matter what your view is on Iraq, we have some truly amazing young people over there who are fighting for us.  I hope God watches over them and that they come home soon.

Part 1, Background

Ok. Ok. . . so I suck at blogging.

I have been meaning to follow up my last post, but the past two weeks have been extremely busy.

For those of you who want to read my written testimony, you can find it here: http://resourcescommittee.house.gov/Media/File/Hearings/20070301b/Testimony_Michael.pdf  I am working on getting my oral testimony online, but haven’t been able to get a copy of it yet.

Testimony over

So today was the day.  I testified this morning in front of the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Water and Power.  Talk about a nerve wracking experience!  I was seated at a table with three other witnesses and in front of us (on a raised platform) were 10 Congressmen (and women).  We each had 5 minutes to present our testimony and the time was kept by a little countdown timer on our table.  The timer had little green, yellow and red lights to show you when your time was running out.  The gallery was packed, standing room only.

Xbox Rewards

So I had thought that I was signed up for the "Old Spice" Challenge with Xbox Rewards, but I followed a link from an email from Xbox Rewards (http://xboxrewards.msgamestudios.com/) and found out that I was not yet registered.  The site is different than it was a week ago and it looks like they revamped the whole thing.  I had followed a link I found in a 2old2play story on the home page (http://www.2old2play.com/News/The_Old_Spice_Challenge_is_Challenged) and

Mid-life crisis? . . . not yet

My wife went to a wedding this weekend and I elected to stay home with my three sons.  The wedding was a "no kids" event and we couldn't find a babysitter in the Bakersfield, where the wedding was held.

The time with the kids was great, but it made me realize that they are growing up so damn fast.  Everyone always says that time flies and it sure seems like it does.
