I loves me my minigames! As always: be a love and click on the article?

Mini games are to RPGs like an appetizer is to a meal. It rounds out the experience and sets a tone for the game. As games become more complicated, mini games have followed suit. And like with full games, mini games have to follow a set of rules that will ensure that they are great. So how to make a great mini-game?

Do: Create a mini game that is seamless into the purpose of the entire game as a whole.

Cause if you are in Ottawa, or close by, there is going to be a fun little fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation on September 13th.  It's at Liam Maguire's Pub: 1705 St. Laurent (St. Laurent and Innes).   I will be there, there will be live music, lots of giveaways all for a great cause. And there will be drinking. It's all in memory of my buddy Dave. Dave died from complications of kidney failure 5 years ago, and his Mom has been having this fundraiser every year. Danny, the guy who owned the bar that we all used to frequent, donates the place, the music and also the food.

Last night the man had tha boys over for football draft: that was my cue to take Erica, play with her until bedtime then GTFO. Actually I didn't go anywhere, my husband offered to move the Xbox 360 upstairs out of the den to the bedroom, but I declined. For some reason moving it makes me nervous... like something is going to break. But we still have our PS2 upstairs, it's still functional so I got an old RPG that I was in the mood for and Viola! I had fun with some last gen gaming.

Erica is sick. Croup. I get the feeling that all my blog entries are going to be like this.  ah well. She is happy, just feeling miserable at night.  She thinks that Ariels from the Little Mermaid is me. I don't have the heart to tell her that I actually look like Ms Marvel.... just not as short and dumpy as her.
