Stick Together!

There are a lot of halo players that like to play as bears.  They charge straight into battle throwing grenades and basting the AR.  This is how I used to play.  It’s actually why I picked my gt.  Hubris means something to the effect of “overconfidence to the point that you wind up getting your ass kicked.”  That’s exactly what a bear does.  They run straight at a player thinking they’ll be able to just mow them down but knowing they’ll be weakened and killed by the next enemy.  They run straight at three players thinking they’ll be able to kill at least two.

Callouts!

Communication is a huge part of Halo. I've barely covered it in my blogs, but that's because I'm still really learning. I think the first step to communicating effectively is learning what to say. Things like "help me!" or "snipe over there" really don't do anything but confuse teammates. I'm guilty of saying stuff like that as much as anyone, but admitting you have a problem is the first step to correcting it, right?

Know Your Role

I had a game last night, where my 3 random teammates were running straight at the enemy on Standoff. They were decent so they were doing some damage. I stayed more in the middle and just shot at the enemy from cover. One of my teammates asked “Hubristic, where are you? Are you even playing?” I almost felt bad, like I wasn’t being part of the team. Then remembered I had 5 kills and 1 death at that point so I just answered “yeah, I’m here” and kept shooting.

Chill Out

I'm obviously trying to take Halo a bit more serious, but to me its still a game. I think teams need to communicate and that means some constructive criticism will need to be given from time to time. Trying to be concise and polite at the same time may not be possible, but not being a total ass is easy. Competitive players will get upset when the game isn't going well. Nothing will stop that. Being upset is okay, but bitching at the team or constantly or whining about what is happening really won't help.
