This past week flew by. Worked a fricken 20 hour day between Monday/Tuesday. It's all good. Shows I can still pull all nighters being sober. lol Bad thing is that by the time I look at the xbox, I'd rather go to bed than play.
Delanceyplace is a brief daily email with an excerpt or quote we view as interesting or noteworthy, offered with commentary to provide context. There is no theme, except that most excerpts will come from a non-fiction work, mainly works of history, are occasionally controversial, and we hope will have a more universal relevance than simply the subject of the book from which they came.
I'm sure you've heard that Slayer's guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed away yesterday due to liver failure. I haven't been hit this hard losing a hero since Dimebag. Slayer was my favorite band in high school, and still to this day. I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff in 1996 on their Divine Intervention tour. Really nice guy, a real cut up!!! Metal lost another icon, and pioneering riff master.
My band Kurmudgeon had a show the night of his passing and we dedicated our set, and our Slayer homage to Jeff, here it is.
To finally complete a game 100%. To feel I got my monies worth. Yes, I am a cheap date however, I am a faithful one as well. Completing 1999 mode in Bioshock Infinite was a relief to finally see if my build of gear and strategy paid-off. I almost gave up when I discovered the near fatal error of not doing any heath upgrade before Finkton Docks. Because the enemy could wipe my shield in one shot and I lacked any invulnerability gear, plus did not upgrade the sniper, nor did I have a shotgun for Handyman. And had yet to pick up Overkill. I died a lot and reset my check-point to save money.
Slayer guitarist, Jeff Hanneman, died this morning from liver failure, possibly attrubuted to necrosis of the skin contracted from a spider bite. He was 49.
I'm about 2-3 hours into playing Star Trek the Video Game with my good friend BillyBob8. I'm always looking for a good Star Trek game and have found very few really goods ones since the days of Voyager Elite Force and Bridge Commander.
