What a Great Place!

I am constantly amazed at the depth of feeling and empathy expressed on this site.

As I have written before, we are a diverse group of people whose only common thread is that we are gamers. Some casual and others intense. And even as gamers, we are not consistent. The gamut of games include card/board games, RPG, FPS, RTS, arcade 2D scrollers, sports, and racing games. Our hardware platforms run from handhelds to consoles to PCs.

It's been a long, long time!

Wow, five months since last I blogged. I could give excuses about filling my time with medical crap (wife had abdominal surgery, I had knee surgery AND gall bladder removal), but the reality is that I can't find the things to say nor a way to express myself.

I read a LOT and I am continually amazed at the ability of others to paint word pictures that I wish I could emulate. What is it that makes me want to read another paragraph, another page, another chapter? Why can't I do that?

Where am I, how did I get here, why am I here? Part 3

The where and how we got here was covered in the previous 2 Blog entries. The why is probably more complex. Currently we have 91 members in our clan, most are active in the forum and/or XBL. We reside from Hawaii to Nova Scotia, northern Ontario to southern FLorida. We are professionals, managers, in the trades, unemployed, self employed, white collar and blue collar, and no collar at all. Its almost like a parody of the Village People. And on top of that, We range in age from the middle twenties to me, at 63!

Part 2 of Where am I, how did I get here, why am I here?

In 1976, the modern world started! The Apple I came into being as a kit. It actually had a keyboard and could be hooked to a TV. It was black and white only. By 1977, it had evolved into the Apple II, with color! At the same time there were some other microcomputers available, primarily the trash 80 (sorry, TRS-80 from Tandy-Radio Shack) and the Commodore Pet. As an Apple owner, I didnt think those were worth anything! And then in 1978, another break through, Apple came out with a disk drive! That was when I got involved by borrowing money from my father-in-law to get my own!

Where am I, how did I get here, why am I here?

It is truly amazing, the changes in the world that have gotten me to this place with these people! I was born in 1943, during the second World War. A time that to many of you was a short section of your history books (maybe only a paragraph!). But to me it was an important part of my upbringing. My father was in the Army Air Corps, later renamed the Army Air Force, and even later to the United States Air Force.

Another day, another blather.

Before getting into The Real World, I guess I should talk a little more about this one. I have never been a long term joiner of groups until this one. I have belonged to a couple of astronomy clubs, a Civil War round table, and a high power rifle shooting team and club. This group (2o2p) and my clan (2o2pwn) have captured my interest like no others. When you see the diverse group of people involved, it is incredible. I suppose part of the attraction is getting to know viewpoints from so many parts of the U.S. and Canada.

Ok, here we go, why, I dont know

I dont know why I am even starting this! It seems to me that my attempts at euridition and deep insight are bound to fail. After all, who really cares what doorgunner thinks. Certainly not Exodio! Laying ones soul out for all to see invites a slap in the face and repercussions that could be painful and hard to explain.
