Played CoD4 hardcore TDM last night with Reibochief and Matt64. We actually had a good gaming night. A few players were using the mic for something other than bitching in the lobby or auditioning for American Idol, which was a pleasant surprise. A few guys co-operated, calling out where the enemy was, which was also a pleasant surprise. What was neither a surprise nor pleasant was that on Ambush, one of the players on our team was sandbagging, i.e., playing for the enemy team.

Watched some live streaming MW non-hardcore TDM. Here are my quickie impressions, snipped and pasted from the CoD forum. Forgive the crappy formatting, but the copypasta from the forum post kept giving me an illegal HTML tag error. Whatever.
Some impressions:
Not surprisingly, the gameplay (regular TDM) I saw looked very CoD4-like. Since it was non-hardcore, as soon as the dude got a kill, everyone knew where he was on the mini-map and he got fragged. A lot.

In keeping with the "hate" theme of yesterday's blog, let's talk tanks in World at War. Seemingly eons ago, Treyarch summarily yanked the tanks out of World at War hardcore TDM while leaving them on core TDM. I heard about this while I was at work, and I was initially excited to see how the gameplay would change without tanks. I was let down when I learned that Treyarch had removed the vehicles permanently, while leaving the big, empty maps in the regular rotation.

One of the givens in gaming, especially in FPS gaming, is that players getting their asses kicked will put the blame on something besides themselves. In CoD4, it's been popular to blame weapons, perks, or tactics which are considered cheap or, in gaming parlance, noobish. I'm going to post one of my classes here, exposing its noobishness to the world.
