Have no understanding of how FWD works tuning wise. It's either a Gizzie build it and drive it approach or tune it, and make it worse :)
Think that might mean I'll be testing RWD only unless I get some clear pointers.
Well, settings are confirmed for grip levels. So building is now open to anyone thats wants to have a go. I strongly encourage people to build the car they want to drive, not the fastest as most can be made to go just as fast but some require a bit more tweaking than others.
I am happy to build and tune for people.
With regards to FWD, You need to make the car turn in sharp, but not over-rotate and it needs to sustain the mid corner and push as little as possible on exit.
So, Castor is 6.7 -7.0 (keep the tyres as flat as possible whislt not under lateral load) , Cambers and Toe as you like.
Rollbars - go slightly stiffer to compinsate some of the tyre flex and make the car feel a bit more solid, start 21.00/20.00 - get rear to set through chicanse and fast corner by lowering rear.
Bump - again slightly stiffer, start 3.8, 4.6 (this will make it more lively over curbs, small price to pay to reduce corner exit push)
Rebound - start 7.8 / 8.6, increase rear untill the turn in is as desired.
Springs - what feels comfortable so the car isn't too spongy and not skipping across the track.
Diff - 44 - 70%, start @47 and incease until understeer comes in and then back of slightly.
Decel - 10% +- 2%, higher the number, the less lift off oversteer and wider the turning circle! :)
Yes. Might be away from home but will take the xbox with me.
Question - can I request the following rough tunes
All inters
240sx
Eclipse 95
Fiat coupe (if you have the DLC)
Cheers
3 of us ran a few sessions in some of the cars - They run really close with some very interesting differences, around the 60% tyre wear mark is when you start to loose a little bit of time, and there were differences between the drive types :)
Some observations were that the overtaking requires much more planning and accuracy. It is much easier for a driver to defend his line accordingly and should give a much better quality of racing.
Very exciting, some planning still to do but this really is shaping up to be a very fun event! :)
Despite being slow, I enjoyed how the cars felt. Takes a lot of getting used to. Liked both the fiat and Nissan.
now to slap a few paints together for Saturday.
Good to see chosen out aswell. Have only met him a few times but always enjoyed racing him.
Another good test - Some interesting stuff found out.
It does matter how hard you drive the car - spin the car and you loose .5% wear, lock them up and you add a few more to that :) Smooth with her and you can gain an extra lap :)
Overtaking still needs more finesse but really rewarding when you get it right.
Got 6 cars under testing now lol.
I have just uploaded a Civic Si to the club garage if anyone wants to take it for a spin.
