Yeah - Some cars don't get alot out of the aero, especially the lower ones.
We tried to invite you again as we had to restart, but you just went offline a moment before we could.
I'd also like to point out that the Endurance isn't always about bumper to bumper racing, its about planning your passes to make them stick, clean and minimise the battle. Keep your car in good condition will reward you, we got some really good examples of racing yesterday :)
I was running consistent 2.05-2.6 with a best lap in the 2.04's. It was a blast yesterday and I would like to give a thanks to the guys for restarting to pick me up and for the guys that got dropped during the race you were missed.
Sorry I missed yesterday's practice. I was down in N. Seattle yesterday BSing with some Porsche guys and looking at a 914 roller as a possible replacement for my current tub. Hope to make the next one.
Just got to say that I'm now on the edge of my seat with this one. It's just got everything needed. The more I drive with the drag tyres the more I like the dynamics of the model.
All this could have been avoided though. I think I was saying to Gizzie that all they needed was a 4 point slider for tyre wear in the model and it would have been gleaming.
Last night gave me some ideas for tactics and driving technique. Need to test those, coz INTER is going to be very tough against the churches etc.
xXsitement, I'm sorry for the shunt I gave you, I just did not exspect you to brake where you did.
Note to self: Poidsly in the Golf takes extremely late apaxes, don't try to take the inside without calling position. Fell for it twice.
I was slowly but surely gaining on Surf in 5th from 2nd to last, got within 500 ft when my wheel froze! ARGH! That made me hit a wall and had me driving a car with 45% left front suspention damage from lap 28 onwards, it was a pig.

All in all great fun, see you next week!
@Zeratul hope I did not get in the way.
@Tourni - late apexes - does that mean I'm learning to brake later? Or just crap :)

I was watching the replay last night, you are alot better on the brakes and apexs now. I think this shows in your times also :)

I definately brake earlier than most, due to not wanting to rear-end car in front, and due to lack of practice of knowing exactly where the best braking point is. In my case, better safe than sorry. Early braking does reflect my slower laps times.

I know exactly what you did here, and I'm not sure you were wrong.
Taking those late apexes are fine when you're not in a defensive position. You learn those lines hotlapping. When a guy is on your tailpipes looking for an open door to the corner, you can't open that door. Take the corner a little slower, and move your apex up. Otherwise the guy behind thinks you blew the corner, and goes for the opening.

Cockpit view and no freeview on a CSRE also restricts awareness :(
2.04-2.05's Best I could manage was middle 2.06's. I was left by myself until Poidsly caught up to me...we swapped positions during pit stops..but he finally pulled away. I figure I'll be racing with Zeratul and a few inters. Had fun trying to manage tire wear....but driving with telemetry caused me more problems. That and still to much mirror driving...grrrrr. Hard habit to break. Great fun !!!

Don't forget you are learning a new style of game when racing with the drag tyres, i think you could put in 2.05's for sure.
Mirror driving isn't always a bad thing, its how you use it that could be. If you use it to know when some one will try their pass and defend accordingly, then you'll be a very hard driver to pass. You have always been good with traffic, so i don't think you are doing any thing wrong there. Although, you might want to stay out of the telemetry and try to feel the tyres more, so you know when to pit.
This is one of the reasons why i encourage defending. When a driver moves the car to the inside, the approaching driver has space on the normal line to mess up their brakes and not cause a problem. The best braking point is one that allows you to get the car turned in and on the power the earliest, alot of you are considerably faster after the EUSL :D
Parcells had a sudden urge to conduct some testing yesterday and Its very obvious a two pit stop strategy is the one for me. I ran two 17 lap races, pitted on lap 12 on the first and did not pit at all on the second (last 4-5 laps on ice it seemed). Even waiting 12 laps the front tyre’s were all red (front wheel drive - club car).
Took me almost the exact same time for both runs but the second run I haven’t even made my one pit stop and it seems a pit stop costs you 30 seconds over the course of two laps (20 seconds slower on your in-lap (probably depends on location of pit stop, before or after start/finish) and 10 seconds slower on your out lap).
As mentioned Parcells is running a club car (synonymous with “slow”) and if I’m not driving smooth(i.e. pushing the limit) my front tyre’s are yellow after 8 laps but driving smoothly I could hold this off to almost the tenth lap. I’ve heard a two stop strategy might be the best for the higher classes but Parcells wouldn’t be surprised to see a three stop strategy the optimum in the higher classes??? But of course I’m not racing the higher classes so what do I care what you bozos do.
However, for all participants in Parcells race…stay the fuck away from me and there won’t be any problems. Parcells can’t be nursing these tyre’s and battling with you rubes at the same time so you’ve been forewarned!
That seems about right Parcells, I noticed that the car is about 2 seconds slower when the tyres go off. Catching the pitstop just before this would be its optimum - i think.
Battling is going to help that wear nicely :D
we still need 5 more people, so spread the word :)
Guide times are as follows
Super 2.04.500 - 2.05.000
Inter 2.06.400 - 2.06.900
Club 2.09.800 - 2.10.500
Sounds like your tune should be good once you get to finish it :)
Only had half of a lap of practice, but did learn having aero probably not a good thing to have. I believe pitting will not fix aero damage?
Yup - aero damage is not repaired.
Sorry to see you drop. Hope to see you next Sunday practice.

I will have to get the Aero removed, one bump in the rear of the Delta, resulted in poor handling.
The delta is a difficult car to get balanced - but a fun car to drive.

Yeah, this is a whole different dynamic of racing :)
Pap - can you sent some of the quicker tunes to cyberdawg for club please?

but I can't live with other views anymore.
Note to self - 3 screen set up needed.
note from wife - not if you value your nuts ;)

Thanks Pap :D
Will be in this, gonna make up some time after my little absents :)
Well getting back to normal now. YAY
Hyper check your inbox I have sent you a car
Also the more I read what you guys put the more I get worried.
All this talk about 1 or 2 pit stops worries me. I hope I only have to make at least 3.
But I think it will be more than likely 4.
At 30 odd seconds ago I have 2 options.
1. Go steady and do 3 stops
2. Do 4 stops but go crazy and try to pull out a big enough lead to counter-act the extra pit stop and in turn not total my car.
Option 2 it is then
The driver line up in Inter-Class is looking very intresting.
Alot of us were pushing the tyre wear to see how far we can stretch it if needed :)
and churchs, try not to all run the same car :D
Boo
Team CPR!
Doesn't make it very diverse in a field of 5 :D
