Ahoyhoy all. My name is Rich, XBL tag: rdrucken. I'm 36, live in NJ and am a Landscape Architect. Interests include automotive design, photoshopping, rooting for the Buffalo Sabres, and gaming. Currently playing Forza Horizon and Guild Wars 2 on the Jade Quarry server. I played a lot of Forza 4 till my damn Xbox decided to scratch my dvd. I'm a decent painter and an ok racer mostly looking for fun challenges in rival mode or online racing. See you on the streets.

Hi! My name is John. I'm 28, 29 in Feb 2013.  Xbox Gamertag is A TRICOOTERTOPS. Yes, It's a vagina dinosaur. I've been an avid gamer since I can remember. I actually was in 204FToo waaay back in the day. Just now getting back into it. Since my 204FT days I've moved from Michigan to New Jersey, gotten married (3 years now), and am now a very proud father of a 2 almost 3 year old boy named Tristan. I work as a contractor doing Commercial HVAC-R (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning - Refrigeration). I'm working alot all year round, especially when my boss/father-in-law decides to take a vacation to Brazil and leaves me in charge of a company. Stressfull but makes good money. When I'm not working or hanging out with my family, I enjoy playing video games, mostly Forza (that I've played since the very first Forza of the series), Call of Duty: MW3 (sucks in comparison to the first 2 MWs), or something on the Kinect with the family including Dance Central (I suck at it but it's fun). I'm not the best tuner or racer, and Im an even worse painter. If you want to race with me, don't be surprised if I steal a little of your paint, nothing personal, I can't help it sometimes. I may not be 40 or even 30 years old yet, but sometimes I feel like I'm 100+ after a long days work. I look forward to having fun playing with you guys.

I'm a laid back racer just looking to have some fun. I paint a little (My Ford GT40 is the #5 top seller, rest of my paints don't sell at all really) and can't tune very good. Most of the cars I drive are American RWD. I'm a huge Chevy guy. I've been playing FM since FM1. I picked it up a few months before FM2 was released and have been hooked ever since. I designed the Audi R8 Community car for FM3 and the BMW M6 for FM4.

I live in NC. Drive with the controller with no assist and clutch except for the braking line. I have to turn on TC with some S class and all higher class cars.

Welcome SoulTerror,

send out some FR and jump in on some casual racing. There are also drivers here who give some race tutorials. Take advantage of those if you feel you need to. There are also lots of great events to cater to all level of drivers. The painters in the group are also very generous.

Hi all

Just a quick hello. I'm 35 years old and live in east yorkshire. I would say i'm an average ability driver with Forza but I drive manual with clutch and no assists.

I like a little painting so please have a look at my designs when ever you have nothing else better to do lol. My favorite parts of forza is circuit racing and a bit of autocross but will have a go at most stuff.

I also have a copy of horizon if anybody happends to be playing that let me know.

My xbox tag is the same as my user name on this forum.

Cheers

Hi,

Im uk based too so time wise if you ever want to meet up just let me know... I'm currently awaiting a wheel which won't be here until next year though (January I thnk my email said)... I thought i was a good driver, But it would appear that i am in fact an awful driver, with absolutely no chance of doing well against this lot at all!

Especially considering how last weekend went! soo embarrassing! Some sneaky swine bashed me off the road just to get second last place, even though I finished last in every other race, not sportsman lie t all... Particular, are considering how considerate I was at clearing the track of cars at the first corner for them time after time after time :D

I consider myself a pretty reasonable driver but I was at least 30seconds behind this lot on Friday, yet when hot lapping my times are the same or faster.. Go figure? I believe they are all cheats! It's the ONLY explanation... Cheats cheats cheats!

Tourni even had a flying car in the last race :D

Don't worry Hairy, we'll get you upto speed in no time at all.

Cotter and I run a race school for people, we can teach all race aspects from cornering to traffic management.  Its worth a look when you get a moment, although, don't expect imeadiate results as we teach the tools you need to get faster.   I'd also wait until you get your wheel sorted first though, as you'll want to get comfortable with using that before you start trying to push the cars a bit more.

Some thing to keep in mind is that we have all come from the pace you are at now, we are fairly tollerant to mistakes that are made and we'll try and help where we can. So don't be afraid to ask questions if you are finding a car or a part of the track hard going :)

Thanks Tourni :)

i was incredibly surprised at how bad I was? I hadn't driven any of those cares before which cold be a factor, I tend to stick with modern cars more often than not.

As soon as I get my wheel I'm ploughing lots of time into the driving school. I really want to become a welcome addition, not the guy wiping everyone out at the first corner again???. After that race, I was sell shocked at how poorly I had performed, maybe cars, maybe the tracks, I don't know... All I know is I was awful and I don't drive that way in single player, I consider myself a pretty good driver... I really only play (and ever played) racing games, I drive in my actual car, I do a lot of karting and almost every year we use our tesco club card points to do a driving day at the circuit in a Lamborghini or Ferrari as its essentially free :) I am an F1 addict, I try had to drive clean nd stick o my racing line (unless defending, then I drive a wider car) and yet somehow I was driving like mr Bean on Friday? It was embarrassing to say the least :D

The last race on friday night was the only one that was a little better for me, and then someone fish tailed me at the corkscrew on the last lap... it would have been my first non last finish too...swines... :D

It was nice to get on and just mess around though, luckily it wasn't a genuine race event.. For now I will only go online when a training session is on, or a general cruise/meetup etc... That way I'm not spoiling anyone's race.

As soon as my wheel arrives, I'll be t you for lessons 24/7 :D

You're not alone here Kid. We've all been there. Racing against real people is a completely different experience than hotlapping solo or racing against AI. I though tI was pretty decent too back when the club first started, our events woul consist of mostly cautions. Just keep racing 7 you will improve. Don't worry too much about everyone else & you'll be fine. TBH, unless someone is withing about 20 feet of your car, then it's best to just pretend that they aren't there.Run your race & do your thing. the rest will sort itself out. the best advice I can give is this...Don't try to get out of someone's way. Most of the time, a passing driver is already planning his move. when you slow down, change lanes etc, you might just be putting yourself right into his path. Always just race your race 7 run your line. they'll figure out how to get around you.

I think you'll be surprised at how much a couple of school sessions will help.

Don't worry dude.

Although we have a great mix of abilities, the guys are still very fast on the track.  Alot of drivers had competed in the EUSL where there were strict rules about contact and as such they learnt to be very fast in traffic without making contact.   Some drivers also drive an exceptional defensive line, they can make it very difficult for the fastest of drivers to get by.

You'll be suprised how easy it is to pick up the basics of the skills you need to allow you to drive more confident in traffic, but don't expect to be perfect as you'll make contact every so often because some one will catch you un aware.   I do it, because i set a brake point for them in my mind - if the decide to brake early and i'm not prepared i'll have trouble stopping in time.   The contact is usually light enough to get away with it, or i'll ditch the car off the track if i can do it quick enough.

Either way, don't sit out of things that you want to have ago at.  We welcome all player skills here because their intentions are good and there is no substitue for seat time really  :)

Anticipation plays a big part in racing, simply because you don't know how another person is going to take the next corner, or approach the next car.  Track positioning plays an equally big part here also, people who find themselves in incidents often are probably not driving as defensively as they should.  For example, covering the inside of a corner when a driver is approaching will enable to approaching driver to slide off the track and miss you if he out brakes himself. Another example, is to move help the guy behind you see traffic infront by driving slgihtly off line for a while down the straight.  He'll be able to pick a better brake point depending on the number of cars and how close they are..

Just the tip of the iceberg really... But great guys here will get you sorted :)

Hairy,

I find that even though I spend countless hours playing this game I never learn more about how to race than when I run with people in this club.  Regardless of the drivers skill level.  So stick with it because like Tourni and Cotter will tell you, seat time is the most important thing.  Especially when you can race with other people.
