Thanks Church! My Volvo is waaay off the pace so I'll just wait for some of your tunes to become available! In all honesty I'm a little disappointed/depressed with my pace against most of you guys, I'm about as fast as a fortnight.

I'm not fussy about what I'm driving, as long as I'm on the pace! Anyone got an F15 Eagle I can use? :-)

Disclaimer: Maybe the weed is affecting Parcells more than usual so any false argument I present below will be blamed on the amazing stuff I recently consumed.

Not sure if you’ve thought out the organizational aspects of this series Church but it seems like you have more than one room signed up for this awesome championship and Parcells was wondering what your plans are to accommodate the number of participants.

And yes Parcells has the solution for you. I can’t envision any alternative beyond splitting the participants into two separate rooms and keeping the same people in the same room FOR THE ENTIRETY of the series. The handicap system should work well but only if compared to the same set of drivers from week to week . (I’m assuming the result of race 3 in week 1 affects your handicap in race 1 of week 2)

So, now that that’s settled, Parcells also has an idea on how to separate the rooms. For simplicity sake and to circumvent any bullshit whining about the room someone ends up in I’d go totally random, pick the names out of a hat if you want. For that matter it’s your series so separate them however the fuck you want and if someone bitches about it they get booted from the series.

Are you sure you want to keep the 1 point for fastest lap rule? It’s a good rule but a bit more impractical to manage vs. tracking finishing positions.

Makes sense to keep whatever teams form in the same room, and the independents split off. Rather than some random split, or have a qualifying session and split by times.

The sign up level to this event is an unexpected but welcomed surprise.

As such as soon as we got past 18 signed up drives I have been waiting for you to post the answer for me ;-)

But as we are all adults and it's important to everyone who has signed up may be we could all vote on this.

So do we

A. Split everyone up randomly in to 2 rooms and have 2 champions?

B. Have teams in one room and Indy's in another. That means we will have a team champion and a Indy champion.

Or

C (I like this one, it's also overly complicated, but that's just me)

I increase the points starting from 32 for a win running down to 1 for last place.

We run a qualification round before the season and I split the qualified drivers down the middle in to 2 rooms. Room A for the fastest times, room B for the slower times.

We run the first night and I get the finishing  positions for both rooms for 3 races.

I then score all 3 races independently as normal but by putting Room A's positions above Room B's and by starting at 32 points for the winner of Room A and the lowesest points to the last place driver of Room B.

The handicap rules will only apply to the top 3 drivers of room A and they will carry over each week if applicable.

After each event i will work out each drives average point score for that week. Once I have the average the top 3 drivers of Room B will be  premoted to Room A the following week and the bottom 3 drivers of Room A will be moved to Room B.

We go racing again I do a drivers average points score for that week and the top 3 get swooped with the bottom 3.

Do that for the rest of the season and it should make it interesting.

So what do you guys think?

Parcells still thinks you're nuts! :) and way too complicated for option C albeit I'm still in regardless of how you split us up.

The issue I see (no weed this morning) with option C is it does what frequently occurs which favors the faster drivers which is also what the handicap system is supposed to circumvent. If room B has no handicap system (I assume the non-podium finishers in room A also drop in handicap???) the racing in that room will not be close...the real slower drivers don't stand a chance which is the exact opposite of what you're trying to accomplish with a handicap system.

But if you implement the handicap system in both rooms with the intention to move 3 participants from room to room each week you are not comparing apples to apples and the hnadicap system becomes slightly flawed. If you really want to follow up with option C maybe you can keep the handicap systems in both rooms and when the room A players drop to room B they automatically start with a 15% handicap and the room B players moving up to room A automatically start with a 0% handicap.

I still think option C gives zero chance for the slower drivers to win the championship?

If we do C I will also drop the point for fastest lap.

@church, can I get a clarification on rule 4. Does this mean same car and same build for the entire season? Or can we use the same car but tweak the build from track to track, keeping within the overall build criteria? For example adding/removing aero .

Oh yeah, option C also requires rules around what do you when someone misses a week which is guaranteed to happen...On that note if the rooms are static throughut the series if you miss one race your handicap for the next race you do run should be based on your last finishing position...In other words your handicap stays the same when you miss a week and/or race.

If you miss a week the handicap stays the same as I have created a place on the sign up sheet to remind me everyone's handicap

Lucky we have a good few weeks to sort everything out.

The tracks won't change or the car limits so changing the rules won't effect anyone who wants to practise or sort a car out.

Its just trying to make it fair for everyone.

If anyone has an idea please post it up.

Right anyone need a tune for a car?

Thanks.
