RS CUP NUMBERPLATE IS REQUIRED AND IS ON MY STOREFRONT.
Place your race number on each side of the car, and on your rear bumper. This will provide easy ID during replays and when guys are making passes. Any paint is welcome; I'm running a plain Jane Autocross type livery, and something as simple as a factory paint with numbers is just fine. Or get crazy with the paint your choice.
The build must follow the guidelines. However, note that you are welcome to change the style of wheel as long as you use the specified wheel diameter.
This build and a general Tune is on my storefront. Also, I will post a tune for each upcoming race no later than the Sunday before the race.
General Race Rules.
This might sound like a control Nazi but if you punt somone off track apologize for it. Those without decency enough to apologize aren't welcome in this series.
With that said, there will be cautions on all but the last lap. So, we could race rough and it not kill us, but run the entire race under caution (boring), or race clean and get as many green flag laps as possible.
Also, another way of helping out the newer guys=the slowest qualifier in each race will be given 1 free caution that he may call at any time. ANY time. This can be used to get caught up to the field or to keep from losing multiple positions when you have an off track excursion. Even if it is your fault. A get out of jail free card of sorts for the inevitable mistake that is bound to happen.
The "unwritten rules".....Cut the slower guys some slack. Don't dive into a corner next to them if you know that you will get a run out of that corner and be able to pass on the next strait anyhow. This will only intimidate new guys which is what we want to avoid.
Track List/Race Dates:
3/7 Road Atlanta
3/14 Silverstone International
3/21 Hockenheimring
3/28 Catalunya

5/16 NEW RACE! 1 RACE NIGHT 20 LAPS RALLY DI POSITANO
The last 3 races are repeats to give the new guys that I hope join us some familiarity, and also because I want to award prizes (among other things) to the most improved driver.
PRIZES
Points
1st= 5mil credits and an assortment of original vinyls
2nd=2mil credits and an assortment of original vinyls
3rd=1 mil credits and an assortment of original vinyls
Most improved driver.....Still trying to work something out.
Driver Elegance award.....Still trying to work something out.
Most liked driver=A custom tuned car, that is a GREAT car for it's class. There will be two different tunes. One for tracks with long sweeping turns and the other for tracks with sharper turns. It will also come with a custom paint, as well as include two other custom liveries. Everything gifted over so it's open for editing if you want. (The tune is a home run though really)
Prizes will be given out to the top 3 points winners. Also there will be a prize for most improved driver, Most liked driver and a driver elegance award. (to the driver who always races smooth/clean)
Handicaps.
I've been back and forth with this and I really think the best way to do this is to set handicaps the night of the race.
REMEMBER YOUR HANDICAP EACH WEEK. IT WILL CARRY OVER. This will help speed along the qualifying heats. Your handicap may get adjusted, however, if you ran in group 2 in the previous race start the qualifying heats in group 2.
NEW MEMBERS OF 2O4F AND THOSE NEW TO FORZA IN GENERAL
JOIN IN THIS SERIES! This is the perfect series to get your feet wet. The car is easy to drive, handles well, and isn't a rocket ship in a strait line (that's a good thing).
I will do anything and everything I can to improve the experience of the newer guys. From providing tunes, answering questions, giving track tuturing sessions, running practice sessions, you name it, even providing vinyls to help you get a paint squared away. I'll even consider tweaking the build if someone isn't fitting in even with the handicaps. For example a bump up in HP, or the addition of Aero.
These are seriously fun car!
Points will be awarded based on the total number of drivers in the room. Points are based on reverse finishing order.
So With a room of 10 drivers.

Do you need a sign up sheet?
Yes It would help once racing starts. I can update post 2 to include the registered drivers before race 1.
Something that adds to the fun of each racing series is when I learn about some of the background from particular racing series and/or cars. (BTCC, DTM, AUS V8 Supercars etc)
I'm a gearhead so this kind of thing interests me.
So if anyone else feels the same here is some info on Group N rally prep for the Escort RS.
http://www.cannell.co.uk/Ford_Workshop_Manuals/Escort%20RS%20Cosworth%20Group%20N%20Manual.pdf
From wheel/tire sizes, boost pressures and ride height specifications to rebuild or maintenance intervals of various parts that manual was pretty thorough.
Ford Escort Group A info.

This is a very similar spec to this Forza Race series. HP numbers and wheel sizes are virtually the same. A few pretty cool cut away photos as well.
Another with Specs, race history etc.

I would be interested....but what time zone are you in??....Im already in a series that runs close to this time
This is running on Thursday nights at 9:30pm EST. (first post edited-bear with me this is my first rodeo)
Road Atlanta tune is posted on my storefront for those interested. 4 Laps into the test I ran a 1:31:4.
I will post a tune for those with a handycap tomorrow (Monday). If things need to be changed. The same tune may work for both cars.
BTW Late tonight say maybe 11pm EST I'd like to get a little practice in. I know this is late, but I usually see plenty of the usual suspects on this late.
I'll be there and sign me up!
Im sorry...Thu no good for me....maybe next time
This is a fun little car to run around in. I'll be online in the evenings, hopefully it doesn't push too late. Us old guys, warm milk and male nurses and all. I'm down for throwing those cars around tho.
Running late was/is a concern, but if everyone shows up on time we should be all wrapped up by 11pm at the latest (that should allow for qualifying heats "room issues" and the race.
Sign me up Scotty! Thursday is a perfect night for me to do some racing
SERIES NUMBER PLATE IS NOW ON MY STOREFRONT.
Count me in. Number #068.
Hey, does that mean no more GT5 for you?
I'm out, I try to be off by 10 latest EST during the week, if not earlier. Up at 5:30am... It's the main reason I'm in the Euro division.
Count me in. Number 21
I'm in
Wish I could join you but Thursdays are out for me...
My copy of GT5 is damaged so for now yes until I get another copy.
If anyone is interested I have a vinyl for adding a Carbon Fibre hood to the Escort. Paint the hood black then apply and it looks really nice. Comes with hood pins and solid colored hood vents. (all that can be removed of course) It is already scaled to size so you just have to change the color of the shapes used to follow the hood lines to your body color. There is also a piece for the front bumper that is part of the hood. Same story carbon/body color.
I know this is a relatively easy vinyl but it's already scaled for the car. If interested let me know and I will gift it to you
I thought this was for the new guys
If that is not the case then count me in
Everyone is welcome.
The car choice is new racer friendly, and I'm willing to do several things to accomodate them, but there hasn't been much interest that I can tell from the newest members.
MaxPerforma has a cool replica paint like the FMS car above.....I've decided to go Grassroots style and build a typical SCCA Solo 2 car.
Hundredthshrimp also has some cool paints for this car in various colors. Not really race paints but some custom "street paints".
BTW don't forget that you can run any style wheel you want.
This is gonna be my race car.
Looks like your series is heating up pretty nice Prebuilt. Not too shabby for a guy who just started this game at Christmas. Good for you dude. I hope to see and hear the success stories of this event. If you need any advice or help running the event. I'll be more than willing to help. I probably won't be able to race in this event due to the "BUSY SEASON" for work is rapidaly approaching. But I'll try to make events if they become available to me.
Also remember, the problem with hosting and trying to accommodate EVERYONE is that it just doesn't work. Trust me, I know. You win some and you lose some, you won't always be able to please everyone. So don't stress over it too much.
It looks like your doing a great job thus far. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Cooter! Ya I think it'll be a fun event with a decent turn out. The lobby settings help you gave last week helped a bunch. Maybe tomorrow night, or tonight after the ICON series I'll set up a room and invite the usual suspects in, and we can practice the handicapping in run groups.
I'll post two paints on the SF tonight. Check them out and if interested I can add the plate and your number.
Basically just two of the RS500 Ford liveries adapted to the Escort RS
EDIT: These are posted now if anyone is interested.
Outstanding to have you in the series countach! These are indeed fun little cars. I'll be around on and off throughout the day so if you need anything, paint, tune or just some track time, let me know. See you on the track!
Thanks James,
as you may or may not know, compared to most racers I am a beginner. I watch as the lead cars pull away and dice it out with any drivers struggling as myself. If I don't get bumped off the track, I can usually keep the leaders in sight for a bit, but on most tracks my best time is around 15 seconds slower than the winners. I don't mind as I am just learning. I do try to not bump anyone off and even try to get out of the way if I happen to start near the front so I don't hold anyone up too much. If I'm caught in the middle I try my best and appreciate getting passed cleanly rather than being bumped off the track which is more often the case. It's all in fun! john
