Without the water jugs, it would tip over due to shifting the stearing wheel closer to me.  The water jugs act as a counter weight.  The best thing is all of the materials were from scrap around the garage.  I already feel much more confident in my braking now that I can consistently get my foot off the gas.  One of these days I'll get a proper rig but I have no clue where to even start.

If you can get a hold of some 2" pvc schedule  40 pipe some fittings and some pvc glue you can build a pretty sturdy rig  that will hold your wheel and pedaI and can easily slide to your office chair. I can draw up something for you if you would like ..

Would love to see it.  Thanks!  Although my current set up is better, Id still like to get my legs out a bit further and straighter.

Just to chime in here,

If you are looking for an inexpensive PVC base rig, I found these plans a couple of years ago.  The core plans make a rig you can use with a couch or low chair so you can customize the measurements to your liking.  When I built mine way back in the day, I added a deck and a chair right onto the rig.  Not including the chair, I built the PVC setup for $60 Cdn.

Here you go: http://www.mediaxtreme.ca/graphics/chair/pvc_cockpit.pdf

This is what it looked like when I was done:

Hope it helps.

Cheers!

Thanks KRGDRK!  I'll check thouse out also.  I found a set up online as well that I was thinking I could make out of PVC also.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0060WNO0A/ref=asc_df_B0060WNO0A2273584?smid=ARE76F43RRMHR&tag=nextagusmp0364371-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B0060WNO0A

I dont have the room for a dedicated race seat however I do have a lower easy chair Id rather use than my desk chair.  I'll have to take a look at this also.

Thanks everyone

That Xlerator stand looks like it would do the trick nicely for your requirements and its not too expensive either.  Good find!

Cheers!

Ink, that thing is gorgeous and my favorite colors.  Question though, you run Forza on the rig correct?? I know thats a Fanatec wheel, but isnt that the thrustmaster shifter?? I didnt know that was possible as I have been doing research on an uprgrade kit.  If it is, can you please explain ??

*im jelly*

I'm pretty sure that's the invention of 2O4F resident genious and seldom understood MrBasherman. He made (and sold) some wire thingy that allows the Thrustmaster shifter to work with Fanatec's wheels...if Parcells is remembering correctly. Feedback suggests the end product is professional and outstanding.

Give MrBasherman a PM to see if he has any left or when he's making more?

Gunny, the "magic box" is BasherBoards SFA1.  Allows the use of the Thrustmaster shifter w/ the Fanatec wheels.

I currently have mounted to my new cockpit my Thrustmaster T500RS wheel, which is not Xbox 360 compatible.  It works with PC and PS3.  I regularly do PC sim racing nowadays and so Xbox compatibility is no longer a big issue for me.  I do also have a CSR Elite which is Xbox compatible.  I might try to get a spare wheel plate for my cockpit so I can swap out the wheels quickly.

Very nice Stevie, I see you have the most important part of any racing rig. The cup holder.

Never seen that rig before Stevie. But the looks of it, the company that made it came up with about a perfect design imo. Simple, clean,no center bar, easily adjustable and sturdy.

Hello,

I am so jealous, envious and ........... If I had such great rigs, I would be much faster! I will have to show your rigs to my wife, but I already know, what she will say: "We don't have enough space for that. So, honey, we make a deal: you'll earn more money, than we will move in a new, bigger house and after that you can buy yourself such a rig, okay?"

Hmmmmmmm. Happily married!

Hello,

@church: Hmmmm, okay, that's why they sell that Holden Commodore via Australia only with the wrong side steering wheel, right? Down under is also so "wrong" as Great Britain. I looked for it (just for fun) and found no dealer in Germany.
