Yeah, GT6 is coming along very nicely. I have pre-ordered three copies of the 15th anniversary edition, which means I will have 25 cars at the beginning of the game. I would love to see confirmation that triple screen support is coming out of the box, but to date, I have not seen confirmation of that. I nonetheless remain confident that triple screen support will be in the game.
I am especially happy to see that all cars are available for purchase via one dealership and that there are no level requirements. The only issue is credits.
Parcells...Been getting back to GT5 and Waiting for GT6..Figuring Out how my headset works...Wheel Works...Physics...Updates...You Ready for Grand Pa to come back???
I don't know Wheels, can anyone really prepare themselves for "Wheels arrival"?
Hope you can make it, we even had Brntguy show up for a couple races last night. Shame that I accidentally used him as a brake on one particular turn but I did apologize.
I do not wish to beat a dead horse but its only fair to let you know that over time us regulars eventually agreed that skid recovery is simply too much of an assist so it remains the only assist not allowed in Parcells Thursday night room and I will not allow it. I hope this does not keep you away.

Parcells...Thanks for reminding me why I haven't been around. Since you are around how about teaching a 'Ol Dog a lesson on Skid Recovery. Why?...Because I use no assists in Forza (As Well as Real Life) and have no problem with cornering but with GT5 without the Skid Recovery Assist every corner seems to be a spin out. Why is that? If it is Cheating why is it offered? It would seem as in Forza all Assists makes you slower but now in GT5 it makes you faster? If it so much of a advantage why doesn't everyone use it? I just don't understand your reasoning but It is Your Show so do as You like. I guess I will wait for Church or someone else or maybe non-regulars to set the rules and maybe allow the Skid Recovery assist or maybe the physics will change in GT6. Maybe I will run a Lobby Myself. Maybe the Thursday Night Regulars are so good that now maybe they are too Elite or have become Niche Racing to be bothered with people that still have issues as in Skid Recovery! Or maybe I will just have to find time to harness it.
P.S. ALL IS GOOD!!!
P.S.S....Parcells...How about a Senior Rule...Anyone over 65 is allowed to use it. Let's Face it with one foot in the grave and reflexes gone it would show Respect & Compassion for the Geezers!!
It would seem as in Forza all Assists makes you slower but now in GT5 it makes you faster?
That is not true and is not what I said. Just like Forza GT5 has no assists that will make you faster and that includes skid recovery BUT skid recovery is such a huge advantage because it masks so many of the imperfections you make as a driver be it small or large imperfections. Over cook the throttle, too fast entering a turn don’t worry skid recovery will keep you on the track.
No such thing as a perfect lap but let’s say for example (without skid recovery) I put in pretty much the best I can do on track A and get a lap of 2.00 minutes. Still without skid recovery on the next lap I slightly overcook the throttle in turn 1 and lose 2 tenths of a second because my wheels spun…had I used skid recovery on the second lap I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have lost the 2 tenths of a second so I’ve not been penalized in any fashion for a small mistake which quickly add up over the length of a race and in practice this is exactly what we’ve seen…skid recovery users rarely screw up. Really boils down to we feel it is such a huge benefit (so much more than other assist) we just dropped it.
Why you have so much more problems with GT5 vs. Forza is also somewhat of a mystery (you seem to be the only one?). I find the physics models between the two games essentially the same but Forza does some things better as does GT. I find the weight transfer in GT5 better (more pronounced) and couple that with the tyre compound we typically use on Thursday’s (rarely use race slicks and usually the default compound which is very slippery) you do have to better manage your throttle control more in GT5 than Forza but that’s the best I got bud, sorry not too helpful.

Damn Parcells...If you are worrying about 2 tenths of a second I am not good enough to race with you!...You have achieve Elitist Status....I Haven't....I'll wait for someone in my own category!

No. GT5 has traction control (scale 1-10) and ABS etc. (not sure about stability control - I think not). Its just this one damn assist that works like a miracle assist. I do not beleive we (our regulars) are alone in our opinion of skid recovery and in fact I'm quite sure of it.
Parcells isn’t the least concerned about you Wheels and I’m not a proponent of compassion (you know that ) so what do I care?
You need to re-read what I wrote…it does not make you faster but the HUGE advantage it does provide is it kind of makes you Superman like its near impossible for you to mess up whereas us mortals who make small mistakes throughout the race suffer the consequences (as we should) which usually results in lost time.
Assuming my perfect lap on a track is 2:00 minutes…after a 5 lap race without skid recovery I would guess my race time would be near the 10.05 mark, losing up to a second each lap because I cannot maintain perfect laps but the same race (making the same subtle mistakes throughout) but using skid recovery I would guess my race time to be well under the 10.05 mark.
That said when GT6 comes out I’m sure I’ll be going back to a private lobby at which point I will consider allowing you or others to use skid recovery and sooner or later you will realize what I’m trying to tell you. I dare not allow it in my public rooms, sorry.
Practice buddy, practice, don’t be shy give it a try!

Thursday GT nite doesn't work well for me. I'm just not able to get on early enough to get in some decent races before Thurs.nite series on the 360. I would much rather run organized racing on the xbox due to ease of use more than anything. God is it me or haven't I played GT5 enough to be able to quickly get into a decent race? Damn ps3 only has two usb ports on it and the only headset I have is a plugin usb wired type kinda rinky dink and a pain in the ass to use, guess getting a wireless headset I should do eh. Yea wanted to stay in the lobby and race more but was trying to get my communication to work. I really need to get on and race more in GT5 to get used to the way all the options etc works, and I have no idea what your talking about this skid recovery shit. Lobby and racing felt ok to me.
Wheels, I love you buddy, but you need to chill brother. We have been doing GT5 night since early 2011. It is far and away the longest ongoing sim racing series I know of and it is still going strong. The main factor in that is Parcells' running of the series. He has made many good decisions. His decision to not allow SRF is sound. Don't worry about it, the cars we run really do not need SRF anyway and allowing it for these cars allows you to get too wild and crazy with the car. I know you like to be at the front of the pack, but trust me, you don't need SRF to be there.

Zero..Chill I Will..Thanks for the Critique!!....Maybe I was wrong on the Skid Recovery and The Parcells!
Wheels. You know that i always stood behind you as far as skid recovery. But since I have been playing gt5 more now than before.I can safely say its more fun to race without it. My opinion on skid recovery is its like putting the arcade switch on.

I Think my problem is Myself....I have been away from GT5 since almost the late spring. I should of practiced and practiced but I had to do so much this summer in house projects that I haven't had the time too. I know that is no excuse. Skid Recovery has always been a problem and only problem with GT5 fundamentally because I just never understood it. I guess I just needed a crutch until I conquered it. That Parcell's Cold Turkey is probably just what I needed for the Thanksgiving Season....Get It or Forget It!!... My apologies to Parcells and Everyone if I just got carried away due to Frustration. If you can offer any tips I would deeply and sincerely appreciate it. Rusty has always had good advice!
Assuming my earlier assumption that the tires we typically use on Thursdays offer less grip than what you're accustomed to theres a good chance your throttle control may need some work. Hard to say for sure that is the problem??? but if throttle control needs some work I recommend you grab a muscle car, throw on comfort hard tires (if comfort hard are just too rediculous go with comfort medium no higher) and if you can manage to stay on the track you've understoood throttle control I guarantee it.
Give it 20 minutes and if you're up to it rinse and repeat. Guessing 20 minutes is the maximum time an individual can handle before going balistic driving this set up as I promise you it will be an exercise in frustration. I wouldn't want to do it.

Parcells...Thanks for the Tip...I Sincerely Appreciate It...I will give it a go..If memory serves me correctly throttle control was a main ingredient in many of the Seasonal Event...I had no issues. I am not sure if I just get sloppy or decided to cheat with some traction control every now and then. I do know that I do use traction control on the R1's in Forza but that is it. Hope to overcome it or fade away...One or the Other! Do You use any traction control or any cars in GT5 or strictly throttle control?

I do not recall ever using TCS or any assists in GT5 (except when I forget to turn it off) but in the really fast cars in Forza some times I would turn on TCS for those cars that are just too rediculous but really fast cars have never been Parcells forte so essentially never use any assist at all.
Believe it or not but I've convinced myself that assists take away from the feedback you get when racing these cars. I've spent a shit load of money on my racing gear and I want to experience the awesomeness these companies have put into their simulators so I can get the most out of the expensive equipment I bought. There's nothing more enjoyable then feeling your car start to lose traction at an ill-advised time and being able to react to get the car back under control as your Elite Fanatec wheel absorbs every nuance....mmmm tartar sauce!
So I'm still confused. Is Skid Recovery in GT the same as TCS in FM4 because it sure sounds like it. If its not, please explain the difference because I use TCS in S class and above and even on some A class cars

No, they are not the same. GT5 has TCS available, on a scale of 1-10. GT5 also has SRS, you call it Skid Recovery, which provides a nice aid particularly for slippery cars such as a lambo. It also is helpful for the F1 cars in GT5. It essentially keeps the car under control when you lose traction. You catch a lot more skids than you otherwise would without it. I find I can do without it with the less powerful cars that we tend to focus on in our GT5 online series.
Out of curiousity I just googled "GT5 skid recovery force" and boy are there discussions out there give it a go. Anyway the first link led to a forum asking about skid recovery and other assists and below is the very first response verbatim...
"TCS prevents wheelspin by dramatically reducing throttle, which is slower than manually using exactly enough throttle to balance on the edge of traction. ASM dabs the brakes to stabilise the car, which also slows you down. The skid recovery force however is basically just a big finger from the sky that nudges your car if it begins to slide, and pretty much turns off weight transfer during cornering.
I'd personally recommend driving without ASM and SRF, the former slows you down a lot and the latter is basically just easy mode"
I doubt it Grimm. I kept reading some of the crap cause it was entertaining (day off and all - lest we forget) and a fair assessment from the 5-6 links I visited is...
skid recovery = where real world physics no longer apply.
Looking forward to returning to the track with you guys when I get GT6. Kinda got burned out on GT5 this fall - definitely looking forward to the change of scenery! Won't have my hands on it until Santa leaves it in my stocking though!

Starting to make sense. Is it safe to compare it to stability control in fm4
I doubt it Grimm. I kept reading some of the crap cause it was entertaining (day off and all - lest we forget) and a fair assessment from the 5-6 links I visited is...
skid recovery = where real world physics no longer apply.
like i said before. An Arcade switch (skid recovery)
Looking forward to returning to the track with you guys when I get GT6. Kinda got burned out on GT5 this fall - definitely looking forward to the change of scenery! Won't have my hands on it until Santa leaves it in my stocking though!
