Turtle Beach X1 Headsets
Turtle Beach X1 Headsets
Going to try and post the link when I get home but I just found a good video that covers some info on the three headsets from Turtle Beach.
The XO 4's and 7's will be X1 only headsets that only require the connection between the headset and the controller thru the chat adapter. They will not have a cable running to the xbox.
The Titanfall headset can be used on the 360, X1, and the pc. The inline amplifier is used only on the 360 and PC. When using the headset with the X1 the inline amp is not needed and the headset is plugged directly into the chat adapter which offers the same functions as the inline amp. I'm pretty excited about this since I switch between the 360 and the X1. I can leave the cable with the inline amp attached to my 360 and just swap between plugging into it and the X1 controller.
Anyways I had been searching for some info and finally found some that answered what kind of connections these headset would use. Thought maybe some you might have been wondering the same thing. Again I'll post the youtube video of the interview when I get home.
Sounds good. I like my Titan AX Pro's, but being wired sucks!
Yea I'm suprised that even the MS headset will require a wire to the controller instead of being completely wireless. Oh well atleast its only one wire I guess instead of having to run one across the room to the xbox. I was looking at a pair of XP510's but after seeing the Titan's I'm gonna wait.
I don't understand the problem with one wire. I've always had to use it for chat, for the past 7 years. It's not a big deal. You don't even notice it once you're playing.
I don't have a problem with it honestly. I use my son's headset sometimes and hate when I forget about the wire and put the controller down and start to walk off for a drink lol.
BTW, the Stereo only mode may be upgraded to Surround in the future. My opinion, don't hold your breath for now.

After you read the article you will understand MS is touting the quality of the stereo from the adapter. Many people comment positively on the spatial separation provided by a very capable surround headset. My take, many people also talk out of their ass these days when it comes to audio quality. Simulated surround sound, done poorly is not as good as quality stereo. The sound can muddy up real quick. I am going to give the MS stereo headset a good try and I will tell you what I think of it in FPS. I also have a decent earbud headset for comparison. I'm already feeling a little negative about the result so my MS boot licking may be put aside for a bit.
If you happen to own XO SEVEN and know a person with XP SEVEN, drop by with yours and do a one on one comparison. Let us know the result.
Cable going to the headset isn't an issue for me. That sucks they are only strereo, I was wondering if it would be stereo or surround.
well technically Astros are stereo. There's only two speakers. They just use good spatial processing (Dolby Headphone).
I have the XO Sevens on order from Amazon, and they say they will be released on March 7th; hopefully they will be as great as what Turtle Beach is proclaiming, or it's going to be an expensive mistake, if the sound quality isn't on par with what the Xbox Stereo Headset may provide???
At least they come with the Adapter.
We know nothing about the drivers in the MS XB1 Stereo Headset. Driver size, magnet weight and magnet type are complete unknowns. The headband looks cheap but light. Time will tell how comfortable they are. I know from experience, a $40 Sony Stereo headphone is miserable to wear after 15 minutes.
The TB XO SEVEN could sound as good or better than the TB XP SEVEN, which has its own wireless sound processing system. I believe the XO SEVEN will have better quality sound for the simple reason it does not include all of the TB wireless stuff. What will be missing are Treble, Bass, Bass boost, balance, tone presets and Surround spatial exaggeration.
Has anyone been able to figure out the main differences between X04 and X07? They're both stereo sound, and removeable mics. X07 has nicer cups I guess. But $60 extra? Why?
I'm confident the sound quality is exactly the same between the FOUR and SEVEN.
balance is in the adapter though.
why would you ever need L/R balance? I've never heard of that on a headphone set.
sound systems.........turn tables..........
I'm talking about gaming headsets. I realize L/R balance is a thing, just never heard of it on game headphones.
I mean I guess if you're that hard of hearing in one ear it might help. But that's not the norm and I don't expect them to create game headsets for that.
Until the One outputs Dolby Digital thru the adapter or optical output, no surround sound for us. We are stuck with stereo. :(
The new update fixes this issue.
Just got an email saying my MS XB1 Stereo Headset has been shipped. Yay! Better not be a piece of crap.
Should be here in time for TITANFALL's release.
Just read this.
Most "systems" are set up to balance the sound before it enters the headsets, whether manually with a "dial (gasp!!!) (knob, slider, whatever...) or inherently included in the software for the game even perhaps. Not on the headset itself. The really good stuff lets you pull out the sounds you really want to hear, and ignore the stuff you don't.
Well if anyone is iffy about buying any sort of headset; I have an alternative solution if you currently own a PS3 or PS4. A buddy of mine managed to get an Chat Adaptor for the Xbox 1 controller way ahead of time, so he decided to try and see if the Sony Pulse (Elite's too) will in fact work on the Xbox 1, and I'm happy to report they do in fact work fine with the system; I'm still have my XO seven's coming in soon from TurtleBeach, but going to compare the sound quality of that headset with the my Sony Pulse Elite, and see if there is any huge difference in quality of sound????
From my understanding as long as the cable fits the adapter the headset should work, earbuds included. The sound is being transmitted through the controller now instead of like the 360 where you had to connect to the back panel on the box itself.
I get my Turtlebeach Titanfall headsets on Friday and hopefully my X1 will be fixed or replaced by then.
Well my XO Seven's came in today from Amazon, and I have to say that I am very satisfied with my purchase. The sound quality is excellent as far as I'm concerned and I happen to be partially deaf, what did shock me is the fact, the headset is powered by connecting to the controller (absolutely no seperate power supply)
There are no individual controls on the headset, so you can only adjust Game & Chat Volumes through the Offical Microsoft Chat Adaptor, which came with the headset, as well as the mini-USB cable to update my controllers, the headset is a very sturdy design, the mic is detachable and a little bit longer than my the one that came with my PX4's for my Playstation 4.
Found them very comfortable to wear, and I love the breakaway cable that comes in the box that attaches to the partial cable coming out of the headset and the other half connects to the Adaptor, reminds me of the cable design from the Original Xbox controllers for the first Xbox.
Also experimented with the adaptor using a Sony Pulse Elite and a TurtleBeach PX4 headset, they both worked fine with the adaptor, but found the sound quality with the PX4's just a bit scratchy, whereas the Pulse Elites sounded great, but I had to crank up the volume a lot more to hear clearly.

Considering I know nothing about headsets and can't find an adaptor anywhere, I have just ordered XO Fours online. Did I make a good choice? Be gentle.
Okay, somewhat, almost related, I have turtle beach x-11's and they pick up everything in the damn room, and two rooms away. Is there anything I can do? Has anyone found a way to reduce this?
