delayed again, mid may now not sure i belive them anynore
No surprise here. Here is the problem with the current state of affairs with many games, including Project CARS. The incentives for them to complete the game on time in a polished, workable state are less than 10 years ago when patches and updates were less prevalent and not as simple. They also get pre-orders, which results in revenue for them before the game releases. And, with Project CARS, they have had millions of dollars in revenue for several years now because many of us, including myself, bought the game in early 2012. Project CARS was originally supposed to release during the last generation of consoles. Well that generation ended 1 1/2 years ago.
What all of this means is that there simply is not enough pressure on developers to actually get their games done on time, in a proper state. There are a ton of games nowadays that get delayed and even when they release, they are not "done." Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed Unity, Driveclub are just a few examples of games that had significant problems when they were released.
All of this being said, Project CARS is coming along nicely, I just played it last night and it was good fun. Overall, I think you guys will be pleased, but I will warn you, you are going to miss the car counts that you get with Forza and GT. There simply are not very many cars and the car selection is not nearly as diverse as Forza 5 or GT6. Otherwise, the track selection is sublime, the graphics are unparallelled and the AI is improving. I am confident the game will be worth the wait, its just that the wait might be another year or two at the rate these guys are going.
It's going to be awesome when it releases but they really can't afford anymore delays. I hate to state the obvious but I wanted to acknowledge that. I have access to daily builds so I get to satisfy my curiosity but pCars has a buzz about it right now and they need to capitalize on that and follow through by putting this title out. I will continue to post up videos here periodically. I beleive in this title and I can't forsee it changing for the worse.
Another video for you guys. This is an 8 lap race at Watkins Glenn in a SMS Formula C car. I was running against 9 AI cars. As yo can see the AI continues to improve. I was running full damage with all of the assists off. It is very enjoyable to race against the AI. My next set of videos will hopefully be of some multiplayer races.
AI doesn't just let you go. Very impressive. Even if the multiplayer didn't work, the Ai is impressive enough here to sell the game single player. Leaps ahead of Forza, which the AI are really gettin gon my nerves, especially combined with 2 lap races...
Yeah, BigDaddy, it is really enjoyable to race against the AI. Some silly stuff still happens. In this video, one of the AI takes a dive inside and touches the grass. i would argue that he should have lost it and wrecked us both but, you know what, I'll take it. LOL
The open wheel cars are going to be a hoot for us. Lot's of fun to drive and they go from lower level Formula Rookie all the way up to F1 style. pCars will also feature fully licensed Indy Car. With the Indianapolis motor speedway and several more ovals. It's not even my thing but I'm still excited to try it all.
This is what I'm talking about when I mention the open wheelers. The Formula Gulf car (FG 1000). It is going to be great racing you guys in a spec series with this car. This is the first 3 laps of a SP race I ran recently at Catalunya GP. It's the on board camers on the post just above the driver. Enjoy.
For some reason I can see Fanatecs motivation to "help out" PCARS with support for their hardware, hehe. That's putting it to T-10, and I like the assholes.
Well this news about older fanatec rigs being supported on the ps4 will most likely have me abandoning the MS platform for next gen. Project Cars and GT7 on the ps4 is looking like where I'm headed to.
I have been avoiding next Gen console game discussion until there was confirmation on existing fanatec support. Since it I now confirmed my wheels will work with pcars on ps4, I plan to be on it day one. That said, I have a couple questions
1-Will we be able to race together online even if we are on different platforms?
2-how many can race online at the same time?
3-is there a livery editor.
4-what is the latest release date.
Anything else that would be interesting.
Thanks

1. I beleive there may end up being some type of cross platform compatabilty but probably not across different consoles. Most likely PC to Xbone but utilizing Windows 10 to access the users Xbone games through the Xbone app on Windows 10.
2. The number of on line players in MP probably depends on the platform. PC will be able to accomodate more than the consoles. No definitive word yet but I beleive that the console numbers will be higher than the standard 16 racers. Maybe 20 -24?
3. No word on how the livery editor works on console. There are custom liveries for PC but they are created using car templates and a progeam like photshop or GIMP.
4. release date is in May some time.
I will try to nail down more info for you and post links here. Good to hear from you Grim.

@snappy what frame rates are you getting with your setup?
With my i7 2600 with r9 290 4gb triple screen setup Iam running a mix low/med settings with fxaa and get 45-80 fps with the latest amd driver but thinking of switching back to a nvidia card as they are just slaughtering amd in performance for this title. I want to play this game in all its glory with setting no less than high....If that's possible lol

I am using an i5 2500k with a 4 GB Superclocked 670 and I get 30-60 FPS on a mix of low/med/high settings with FXAA at 5760 X 1200 resolution. I bought my card 2 1/2 years ago.
@Poids-Track texture is awesome. If you watch again just keep in mind that every little thing happening with the animated wheel is EXACTLY what is happening with the wheel I am using. That obviously doesn't give you a sense of the FFB but once it's out and you're driving you will experience how amazing it is. Every wheel is different but I am using the Thrustmaster TX with the Ferrari F1 add on. Pure goodness.
@Kurupt - go with nvidia. Here are my specs:
CPU - AMD FX 812o 8 core processor
MOBO- AS Rock N68C-GS FX Model
GPU - NVIDIA GTX 970 SSC 4Gig
Running on a single 39" INSIGNIA TV (I have three of them but I am running pCars single screen at 1920x1080). Everything High or Ultra except detailed grass. 16x Texture filtering. ;-)
I have run it using triples but pCars is still refining triple screen support.
@Gizzie - not sure yet on the details but I will try to make a video for you guys. Set ups for lobbies are pretty detailed. There is a race monitor like most PC sims and you can tune while in the lobby but I am not sure about adding ballast or things like that.
i did that poid , xbox360 all games and the fanatec went to help pay for the thurstmaster. i think the thrustmaster is a better wheel than the fanatec GT2 that i had the FF feels smoother and the adapter from basherman works great with the clubsports.
Anyone here with a pc wanna try pcars before it's released? I just read a thread that says if you have any Un used steam keys you can give them to a friend, you just wont have any access to the closed form. Iam pretty positive that I've only used 1 key to date so I should have 4 left, pm me if your interested :)

Very diappointing.
PCars should be exremely motivated to release BEFORE Fm6. It will be a major misstep if they don't.
if this gets delayed that long i will probably give it a miss , im thinking june at the latest or all credibility is gone

Snappy. That is impressive for ai. Not backing off but not wrecking either.

Fanatec Support on Xbone, thanks to pCars:

5. Something of interest - helmet camera:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi3InE3wm8s
Now that is frikkin shiny! Love the lighting. Love the track surface detail. Love the helmet view.Reason to buy right here for me.
Sense of speed looks good too.
How's the track texture effects in FFB?

what are the online lobby setups like, for handicaps and such will we be able to do that

looks like its almost time to dip into that discretionary agent fund poid
Yes. Indeed Gizzie.
It might indeed be time to consider that, but Judi Dench might exact a mighty price.
So...
Sell Xbox and all games HD's controllers etc .....say £120?
Sell sealed LE FM5 copy....say £40
Sell PS3 and GT6 ..hardly used, did not really fire me up...say £80?
Sell Fanatec Elite .....maybe £250 if I am lucky
Leaves me £200 or so short of a complete rig....
Or
Spend whatever on Project Cars PC (£40?), connect the Elite to PC. Cheap, but no racing with most of you guys.
Stuck in the same dilemma. Grrrrrrrr
Does anyone know if the t500rs is compatable with the ps4? If so I might also run PCARS on the ps4.
Yes, it is. You can use the T500 to play Drive Club currently, as well as Project CARS on PS4.
