[D2NR] - DirtT Tuned Garage - General Discussion
Hey guys,
This is designed to be a group discussion, OK?
I'm not complaining and I don't want to make anyone think that and I surely don't want people to start complaining of flaming...
I have questions and suggestions about the garage and how we go about "business".
There isn't a thread that we can chat about what we are working on, what is being tested, what is being released or pretty much anything. Nothing against Kurupt... let me get that out of the way first.... :)
So here we go:
How do we decide what tunes will be created?
How will they be tested?
Who tests them?
How do we know when they are good for release?
Do we do rivals, boutny or VIP event targeted tunes?
Is Kurupt's garage the official distribution SF?
Do we have a single FM.net garage thread?
Ok, so that's the questions.
Suggestions:
A dedicated thread for garage to openly chat about what is going on. It would be awesome to have a complete sub-forum to have generic chit-chat as well as threads about specific releases, but that is a pipe dream I think.
If we have a group of official testers, when a tuner creates a tune and posts his times, the testers should run the tune, compare times and go ahead and test on another track or so. If and when tweaks are needed, the tester can feel free to tweak but also explain what they thought was off so the tuner can try to tweak as well.
If tuners/testers have two different tunes, both posting comparable times, who wins? Both. As long as the description states why there are 2, both should be released. Best exanple is wheel vs controller as some cases ARBs and Diff settings could be different based on the car.
If we do special tunes for VIP events, Rivals or bounties, we should get a tune out day 1 for testing. Test, tweak and test and tweak again until the testers and tuners hit decent times. We should try to release withing 2 days of bounties since they last 7 total. Monthly stuff can be a week late.
Just spitballing here... I am NOT trying to run things. I am NOT trying to step on anyone's toes. My reasoning is so far in every garage I have been a part of, info is not available or easily had.
An example:
M3Rocket sent me a great tune from the club for the rival event last nite and it was great. I didn't know it existed. I couldn't find it if I tried. He knew about it but I was clueless. I have seen/heard/read similar things from tuners testers about tunes going around but nothing I have read here.
I want to be a part of this. I want to work with people and tune and test alike. I guess I am not sure how this really works and would love to have a little structure.
I am not saying full on rules, just open discussions where we ALL can read what's happening and be able to get involved where I can as often as I can.
M3: Sorry I used you as an example, but it was the latest on my mind and it brought up these thoughts again.
Kurupt: hey bud, again, nothing against the way things are run. I just have a ton of questions and thoughts and hope the group as a while will chime in.
I might be so far out of the loop that there might be a forum somewhere outside here that these things are discussed that I am not aware of and if so, please let me know.
Anyway.....again, just a discussion and questions and thoughts to get me a bit more involved not just with Forza, but the group in general.
Rangers are on now but I'll be in and out if comments are posted.
Hey psyber!
Great suggestions bud! I like what you're suggesting a lot as this would make everything accessible all in one place. We do need a gathering spot.
Actually, Kurupt, F1SH0 and myself converse a lot every day. We have tunes that are out for testing with various drivers etc. I just never send anything to your other GT since I don't know how much you use it compared to your main GT. Most of what we've released is currently either in my SF or Kurupt's.
The problem is that we had a thread in the old forum that had everything in it, and we didn't save it. So it's my fault for not restarting the thread in the Tuning sub-forum. I will do so this weekend. And I'm not so keen on the sub-forum in v3. It seems to get way fewer looks--I posted a collab WW2 paint livery thread there, and have only one member response.
Let me touch bases with both Kurupt and F1SH0, and I'll get something going.
Track--did I not send you that MX-5 tune for Rivals?
Sounds an excellent idea, I find it a little odd that Tuning, Painting and Racecraft don't have their own Subforums rather than being lumped together. Also without a thing telling you how many times a post has been read means it's easy to think that a thread has had no hits. I have been to look at those WWII paints and am thinking I would like a couple right enough but just not got around to checking I have the cars in my Garage and asking. I sure many others are likewise lurking but without a post count how are you to know.
I'm sure after a while things will be organized in the best way for us all and this is just the way to get it done...we have to ask "Can this be done" and if it can I'm sure it will be.
+1
(from an outsider)
excellent idea, i love kurupts tunes.
kurupt ill kill u seeing as i was supposed to be a tester :-p
"Hello! My name is INn0c3nT. You keeled my far-der. Prepare 2 dye!"
Gonna move this to the tuning, painting, & racecraft forum.
Alright--some great news. F1SH0's B-Class MX-5 Gen 1 tune has been featured in the Top Downloaded section of the Marketplace tab for a little over 24 hours now. 680+ downloads slightly over 4 stars rating. Another 140+ of this tune has been downloaded from Me Monkey 9 Me's SF. I think we just got "noticed."
Couple of interesting achievements:
1. We are #13 on the Club LB for Rivals - Open Time Attack.
2. Under the Regular LB, my SF is ranked #3 (no doubt due to the popularity of F1SH0's MX-5 Rivals tune), and Kurupt's is #189. Me Monkey 8 Me has two tunes in his SF, one of them is the identical F1SH0 tune, and he's ranked #34
Well hot dang--the tune that is in Me Monkey 8 Me's SF that he put up for people who don't read FM.net is now also charting/being listed on Most Downloaded as well. We're #2 on that list right now. I won't be surprised if we end up at #1 Most Downloaded by the end of Monday.
Currently, all the Club's tunes and paints are being listed in either Kurupt's SF or mine. So if you haven't already visited our SF's, please do so and buy all the tunes and paints (even if you have them already) and rate them. All the tunes are either free or 1000 Fredits. If you don't purchase or download them, the rating won't count. This will help our SF's numbers a little. Kurupt and my SF have been hit by Hate Raters before, and it's "cheap" for them to do since we priced the stuff so low.
I also have some photos in my SF. One in particular needs more views and ratings so that we can get PaiNkilLLer's superb Mazda Jagermeister noticed for an upcoming AH-only release with a C-Class tune by F1SH0. Photo view counts and ratings only work if you "view the photo in full screen," so please select "View" then hit A to rate.
Also, if anyone needs cars or credits, please PM me and I'll see what I can do.
Wow i have finally found where you guys have been hiding!!
Firstly in regards to the OP, i agree 100% we need "somewhere" to arrange what we do within the club that is visable to all members..
Also i would like to say that Rocket has done a great job getting the MX5 tune out there for the rivals challenge and of cause helped by a stupidly fast Murph. looking at his times i am sure there is a turbo or nitro button on the controller that i havent found yet!
May I suggest that you create a gallery thread here to showcase & market your work . I'll sticky that thread in this forum so it won't get lost. Then you can also create a tuning group discussion thread in this forum that will be left unstickied. You can then bookmark the discussion thread if you want to keep track of it.
Addition to previos post,...
Or you could just rename this thread to the group discussion thread & create a new gallery thread to be stickied.
Hey Fish0! Good to 'meet' ya!
What would the new thread title be caleld?
Let me know!
I also offered to M3 in a chat yesterday to create or tweak features on MFG for the group if something could help save time and energy. I don't know what but I can whip up whatever within reason.
ie: a database of car requests (request a car, class and add notes); database of done builds and paints
by database, I mean just a few basic fields to keep track of things. No overkill, simple and fast.
Those are just thoughts. I have no idea if they would be useful.
I can also tweak the 'Sale Tag' feature to be D2NR full time or change the layout if desired.
The 'Personal Leaderboards' can be used to track times in a tune for promoting a tune (there is a field not shown now for notes that I can re-enable if requested and I could make a way to post links that would only show the times and drivers times essentially completely filtering out all the others only showing a specific keyword we enter in the notes section if turned back on).
Just spitballing as usual.
all of that sounds awseome psyber but beyond my comprehention lol you will have to show me how to do what and where to get to it
as for the thread name just call it either D2NR OR DirtT Tuned Garage
We'll discuss what would be cool and useful (keyword - useful) to help save time managing and gain more time racing! :) Poke around MFG fow a few minutes and see what's there already and then simply think.. hey, if we had XXXXXXX, man, that would make life easier and less stressful! (either modifying what is there already,a dding a completely new idea or simpy using something there as is)
And the thread title was updated. :) :D :P
OH, how I miss the old smilies!
Kurupt and F1SH0--MFG is MyForzaGarage.com. That's psyber's site. Basically, it's a database site that allows you to keep track of cars in your garage and your LB times. It may help to get a D2NR login to keep track of cars and tunes that we have.
BTW--I basically commited to get a tune out for whatever the reward car is going to be on that Among Giants Me Monkey 8 Me CBH (Communnity Bounty Hunters). We are now at 990 downloads from my SF, 327 from M8MM's SF. This has elevated my SF to the #1 spot in the Tuner LB. A really amazing ride for D2NR, and fortunate to have made many Forza friends in the process. The tune itself is very well thought of in the official thread on FM.net: http://goo.gl/juK8j
And BTW, a little mammal told me that unfortunately the reward car is not going to be a Unicorn, but there's still no word from T10 as to what it is.
Right now it is very basic with no customized features for the garage. There is a customized sectino just for the 2O4F events, but that is all as far special or custom things.
I can do a ton more, twekaing or adding to already existing features or add new if we can think of something both useful and that would save time for the club.
Standing discussion for all members: what can MFG add or change to help the garage?
OK.. no more web .. time to play a little Forza. =)
4 stars and a very dim 5th star. So something like 4.2 is my guess. It was never below 4 stars. The next tune down in the section is a Superlight tune that has a posted time in the description that's faster than Murph's. But it's in french. It currently trails in the number of downloads by 300 (over 600 if you count the ones of our tunes that were downloaded from MM8M's site) and has a slightly lower rating.
MURPH went and improved his time--the F1SH0 Miata tune is now the top ranked MX-5 tune on the Among Giants LB at #16 with a 54.505. That's smoking! MURPH says he can go even faster...
Meanwhile, I'm working on a way to graft DNA from Murph, SWhite and Track together with mine so I can at least get close enough to smell the fumes and burnt rubber they leave behind before they dissipate.
lol ridiculous!
When he first joined the club i checked his times and he was avering top 300, past month hes been nailng top 50s with ease
wtf murph
A couple of tunes and paints are out for testing and Leaderboarding--yes I just made that word up! Contact me if you don't have the tunes and you want to test them.

Personal requests for tunes by club members. Please send them to me so I can coordinate and catalog:
1. Zombie needs B class AWD tune for Rivals in the Open Time Attack
2. PaiN needs a tune for 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge. Pick any appropriate class.
3. I need a two specific tunes for 2 cars (any class):
a) Evora without ugly rear aero. Front aero optional.
b) TVR Sagaris tune for the Blade livery I shared in the Club Garage.
4. 2O4E member stevie, A600 tune for 2005 Honda NSX-R
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm working on DirtT catalog and release thread. Should be done in a few minutes. Please discuss the tunes and other club matters in this thread. We want to keep that stickied thread clean so that 2O4F members can find our releases listed in one place.
Rocket:
What tracks are these C class Hondas targeting? (so I know what boards to hit when I get on again)
I have an Aygo I ran (still ranked 742) that if I ran it again i know I would drop .5 - 1.0 off my time (I ran in Novemeber well before I really started understanding Hockenheim) Its only ranked 1500 or so in full LBs. Fun little car.
The NSX... is that the R GT or just the regular one? I have both tunes in A class. For what its worth, I found the 1992 NSX better than the 2005 by a little margin and I ended up focusing my tune on that, but the regualr one I have was decent until I moved to the 92.
