GoneBrokeRacing (League)
GoneBrokeRacing (League)
OVERVIEW
GoneBrokeRacing (GBR) is a mature group (most members are over 30) of sim racers. 90%+ of GBR members came to us from 2O4F, where many are still quite active. GBR centers around the biweekly V8 Supercar series run on Wednesday evenings. We are a social group, and that aspect is emphasized by the required use of TeamSpeak for interaction w/ other members during events. While we like close tight competitive racing, "Win at all costs" mentality is not welcome nor tolerated. In recent months, GBR has expanded w/ additional series' being run, Alternate Wednesday Series, and various monthly series and most notably a partnership w/ SPAZCAR. GBR currently operates at the direction of a board of 5 Race Stewards/Directors: SeahawksFan, helios16v, F1Fan07, Whitewolf & spazterian.
HISTORY
GBR was originally formed by on a whim while I was running w/ 2O4F in Forza 3. I would be the sole member for several months. During the summer of 2011, Seahawks would introduce me to rFactor, and a few of us from 2O4F would start dabbling in for fun. In October 2011, Tony Diamond would become the second member of GBR as we entered a pair of Ford Falcons in a RaceFactor (Australian rFactor league) series. Early November 2011 I was approached by Seahawks to use GBR as the flag for our little rFactor group, that had just started running the V8s in a weekly series, beginning w/ the inaugural race at Adelaide on Sept 9, 2011. November 10th, our little rFactor group became GoneBrokeRacing, just in time for the start of Season 2. Over the winter, the fields continued to expand as more 2O4F members began trying out rFactor. Fields went from 6 cars on a good night in Season 1, up to a dozen cars being a typical race night through Season 3. Season 4 continued to break records as we saw typical fields grow to 15 cars, and a new series record of 22 entries at one event. During spring 2012, GBR would see it's next biggest change. With SPAZCAR leaving Forza 4 due to issues, spazterian approached GBR for assistance in making the transition to rFactor in the form of the VHR mod. And as such, the GBR/SPAZCAR partnership formed. With concensus of the existing board of Race Stewards/Directors, Spaz was brought onto the board to oversee SPAZCAR related content on the site.
In addition to the internal league races, GBR has gone outside to support other racing leagues. Fourteenbones brought up a historic race series being run by efnetsimracing. Bones, F1Fan & myself are regulars on the Sunday night series. GBR race teams have also been formed at Race2Play with myself as team owner and iRacing where F1Fan has the reigns.

Joined GBR a few months ago, raced over there a few times but I decided to represent them in international competitions (Race2Play) and put GBR on the top. Got several wins for the team, we are leading a few championships, we are top 3 in some .

Nice bit of history and good post Helios
Original post edited to include link to GBR team page @ Race2Play.
Excellent post Helios! So glad you brought me on board with GBR. Its been a great experience and good fun, although PC sim racing has been hard on my wallet.
A little tear just welled up in my left eye...oh nevermind...it was just a piece of dust!
Seriously, nice write up Chris. Hoping we can average 20 cars on the grid this season in the V8's. Season 5 in less than a month away! If anyone is interested in joining, let us know. You don't have to be fast, just a good, clean racer that enjoys competition and maybe a little razzing.
Just for the guys that don't know, We use rFactor 1, not 2.
looking forward to season 5 with you guys :)
Preparing for sundays Porsche Cup...already know I need Seahawks to crash But this is going to be tight, those walls come fearful close when your pushing.
Hey now - don't jinx me!
LOL Alls fair in love and Porsches. Been running your tune for the last hour still can't find that 22, you have me by a fraction on every sector so I recon your just a bit later on the brakes and just a bit earlier on the throttle...
Bad race for me today. Was winning the first 7 laps then just over cooked one turn my a fraction and it was game over
Heh, I struggled after a rear end shunt on the first corner of the first lap, but had a great fight with Boza until my computer decided I needed to look at my desktop for no good reason. In the meantime my car was driving itself into a wall...made the last few laps... interesting. Same track next week for the Enduro, that is going to be insane...Must say it's a refreshing change for you to be the one struggling LOL.
Okay now part of the GBR crew over at Race2Play...Don't think I'll be adding much to the point gathering certainly not in the upcoming Mini race at Brands...God knows where to find 6 seconds...Have to work out how to exchange tunes, I know when I started in Forza getting the right tunes made quite a difference, hopefully the same will be true here. Kurupt mate? I went looking for the one you put up but nothing came up...maybe if you email me the file?
not sure how to do that lol....ill take some pics of the setup and post them under the DirtT Tuned thread if that would work for u? still tinkering with things
I did find the folder they are stored in...give me a while and I'll hunt it down...would be much quicker to swap them around if we can work it out.
Okay it should be in My Documents,Simbin,Race07,UserData,CarSetups,2007_Brands_Hatch
Okay mate, I look forward to the first DTR tune
Almost time to wrangle my LMP around Long Beach, random grid so fingers crossed for a good spot and a very careful first couple of laps. Still not sure about fuel and pit stratagy, so better start thinking about that...
Well went for a three stop with a splash and dash with ten laps to go, worked a treat and managed to take care of the car, a slightly dodgy first stint but settled into a grove and kept between the lines for the rest of the race...good fun.
That race this morning was a blast. I got caught up in a couple incidents that left me limping around the full lap w/ a flat plus a couple spinners. Ended up getting 2nd in class. The car had the pace for the top spot in class, but it wasn't ment to be.
My car blew up in the pits, IN THE PITS!!!!!!!
Who's going to be mapping buttons to turn off their engine then LOL
I think I need to. Im sure thats what happend to my lambo the other month
Well I ran in tonights Mini race at R2P under the GBR name...I cant say I exactly covered it with glory unlike some others, but out of nearly 20 runners 12 finished and I was 11th. Had to do the entire race without FFB as I have found if I am on track when they advance sessions it somehow messes the FFB up, so will make sure I am in the pits in future. I could have done better but I decided to go with a two stopper as I was having trouble with a full fuel load, mistake, it cost me several places and had I done a one stopper I may just have got in the points...Jaysus but the front runners are fast, the fastest lap was several seconds ahead of mine...also I noted many of them cut corners and came right of track on some corners, a bit anything goes to win for me...but the main thing was finishing and without incident, except being nurfed off by a driver I had kept behind me for six laps...methinks he got a little wound up, defensive driving being my main skill LOL still I kept it off the wall and he crashed out a few laps later, gotta love karma
R2P survers seem to be a lot more forgiving than turn tens as well, no way I could have run a Forza race at that time, but no problem there...a little jittering from other cars now and then but no real issues the entire race.
Gone Broke Racing will be hosting another exciting series starting Wednesday September 26th using the mod NAGT v1.6 by The US Pits.
