Wrath of the Machine, Fri, Sep 23
The new raid, Wrath of the Machine, opens its doors this Friday, September 23. The recommended light level for the raid is 360. I don't think we know the minimum light necessary to load into the raid. Since none of us knows exactly what light level we'll be next Friday, I suggest that we form a party at 9pm Eastern with everyone interested (post below if you want me to look for you), and see if we can't get at least one group going. I think it would be fun to see the beginning of the raid on opening day, even if there is little hope of making it far. I am thinking we should just make a group (or maybe two) of the people who have achieved the highest light by Friday at 9pm. The rest of us can read about their run afterward and prep for future raids. One point to keep in mind: some people want to see the raid "unspoiled" the first time through, so if you already know something about the raid (if it's like King's Fall, some streamers may have already finished the raid by 9pm), ask before sharing your knowledge. Also, if you post about the raid on the forums, you might want to mention the presence of spoilers in your title. Personally, I'll take all the inside information I can get, but not everyone feels the same.
I am in and will probably like to be in the spoiler free raid if we have two parties going and can split it like this.
In.
I want to run in a "no spoilers" group. I figure this will be our last Raid before Destiny 2, so I'm not in a big hurry to burn through the content.
I've spoken to others and it seems split 50/50 on if people want spoilers or want to do a blind raid. I've never done a 100% blind raid, so this will be interesting.
I have Thursday and Friday off this week, so I'm hoping I'll have at least one character ready to raid. I also plan to be available Saturday night and probably Sunday night as well.
I think I'm going to focus on getting my Hunter ready for the new raid. We always seem to have an abundance of Titans and Warlock in our groups, so I'll run my Hunter first as the Nightstalker subclass is awesome for crowd control, damage buffs against targets and orbs.
I would say that if you are interested in raiding, and post in this thread, that you should specifically mention in you want to run blind or with spoilers.
We may not be high enough Light to finish this weekend, but at the very least we should be able to get into the raid and hopefully get some loot drops to help us out.
I am so ready for this new Raid. I won't miss KF at all...lol
This goes for me too!
I intend to stay blind for the first week and a bit. It's great to figure stuff out on your own. Eventually I dig into spoilers.
I can mostly keep secrets, ... mostly.
Ranger and I are wanting a 100% spoiler free raid too. We've been avoiding as many spoilers as possible and plan to continue to do so. A couple of weeks ago I was planning on only running the warlock through, but after the last 2 weeks running King's fall with the Titan, I'm a little torn. I guess I have until tomorrow to figure that out!
Put me down as well. I've tried the VoG blind with a group and that did not last long before we all hit YouTube.
I posted this above, but I'm doing my Hunter first.
Warlock for me. i just cant play any other class as well. i would like to think by the time we get to the raid i would have obtained that artifact that allows me to provide a boost to every ones super regen :)
I don't mind heading up the spoiler free raid i have all week off and due to my time zone i will already be online so i can pull everyone together.
From people have commented already it will look like
Me, Darth, hammer, Deep, Kal and Ranger for the spoiler free
obviously this can change and people can raid with whoever they want :)
I'm going to go ahead and throw this out there. I hope this does not come across too rude or exclusionary. I personally would like to find a team of 6 that are dedicated to no spoilers, no rushing, and no (or minimum) week nights. This means we only play this raid together when we all can make it. For me, this is the first time I've felt like there is a group of like-minds that a "slow-play" guy like me can actually get together with and enjoy something like this for the experience it can be.
If I'm the only one interested in something like that, I'll jump in with the rest of you. However, if we could get a committed group of 6 to push through start to finish, together, I would love that.
Hammer, this works for Ranger and I. We really only can raid during the weekends to really spend time with it, and I know we both want to do this without spoilers.
I would be up for this too. Friday and Saturday nights are my best night for raiding, but we'll see if others are interested in making a commitment.
I will avoid watching spoilers, so I can help out spoiler free groups on Friday if needed. I'm willing to avoid spoilers beyond that as well, but since I'm running with DEEP's Tuesday group, it will depend on what they want to do.
I don't know if I would have had the stamina to puzzle out King's Fall, since it was so tricky. However, from what I've heard, the new raid is less focused on (arcane) mechanics, and more on doing damage and staying alive, both concepts I understand well.
Tues raid has no commitment to avoid spoilers. I just hope they will.
In for no spoilers. Will be running Titan.
Out of town 9/23. Have fun! Looking forward to the 9/27 raid.
I figure we will be high enough Light to at least get into the raid and make progress. If we get "gear checked" and realize our Light is too low at some point, then we'll have to regroup.
Reading through the update notes, I don't think light level will be an issue. Looks like everything is geared to have us well prepared. Strikes dropping up to 340, heriocs up to 365, even the Challenge of Elders completed sigils are upgraded to 365. A little grind through some strikes and wearing some blues for a while... I bet we will be fine.
I'm leaning towards titan this time around, been having too much fun with "Titan SMASH" lately (aka fist of havoc).
I think you'll start slowing down once you get to LL 350 from the mention in RoI notes Bungie posted:
Legendary Engrams can now decode up to 365 Light
Still in but I must admit my LL increases are slowly accumulating.
Renovations and a bad pinched nerve in my back have set my playing back a bit. I don't want to waste my exotic engrams as they really come into play after 360.
I've avoided using my (very limited) store of exotic engrams for the same reason, but in a couple of cases (where one item was dragging down my light level), I did use them to "catch up". I hope your back is doing better, DEEP!
I will be on tonight looking to form a group or two to open up the raid. In my fondest dream, we get a group going and manage to get to the first loot drop. But the more likely we get shown the door by some of the boss's flunkies.
I hope you have all been enjoying the expansion as much as I have. Since I had some extra time on my hands, I've been charging right along, but I hope each of you is playing at the rate that is most fun for you, and not sweating your light level. We will be kicking angry machine butt by the holidays, no matter what.
Up to 350 but expect progress to be slower now. If we get slammed by the raid early on it may be a good idea to break up into 3 person fireteams and run the heroic strikes to get higher level drops.
